Nikon D3000, Do you think its a good camera for landscape, Close shots, and portraits?

Reason im saying this is because I cant really afford a very good camera, and i have a limit, Which i have set myself to.

I have set it to £400-£450 Max

Thanks for your help!

On another note, Could anyone tell me how to upload pictures onto the site?

Thanks :)

The camera is a tool, it's the numpty behind the tool that counts. :D

Can't offer any advice other than Nikon so D200 is a great start used(AF motor in body)

yes you can .......depends what you want...

I bought....
re-furbished by Nikon D40 with kit 18-55mm GII AF-S - a cracking lens.. £230
[the 18mm will focus quite close]
then a 55-200 G AF-S VR £130
then a 35mm 1.8 AF-S £120

so there's a full kit [for me anyway] at £480

you could choose a 70-300 instead of the 200 for about £70 more

all these lens will fit the superb D90 later !!..

Nikon D40 .......review by Ken Rockwell "here"

dont forget some money for a decent tripod, a flashlight, an off-the camera flash cord for portraits...........camera bag etcetc

I think you will find the D3000 is a very good camera although as you develop you may find its limitations. Its a choice really to go 2nd hand and grow into a camera or start at entry level and work up. If you look after it you shouldnt loose too much money when you upgrade.
personally i started at entry level and worked up over 2 years as i learnt how to handle and use a camera. by starting high you could be bogged down by lots to learn.

Thanks a lot for your help guys, With the Nikon D700, Does it come with the outta ring just silver, or is that what the lens attaches to? Sorry as you can tell Im a new comer into the world of photography. :cuckoo:

That's full frame and about £1200 second hand. Check out the classifieds on here for budget, make use of the search tool for threads on what camera. :)

did i miss something who mentioned a D700 there £1700.00 body only :bang:

Lmao im sorry i didnt notice i put 700, I had a copied word before hand lol i ment the D3000! =[ sorry fog, but thanks for pointing it out lol

I started with a D60 great newbie body but with no AF motor limits the lenses to ones with built in motors unless you don't mind manual focus. I really would recommend used from the classifieds from a member with good feedback.

Keep asking questions

i'd honestly go for any other nikon than the d3000/5000

2nd hand d40/x/50/60/70/s/80/100/200 - any of those :P

phew thank god for that  ok just so you know a body, has a body cap on it .you remove that to attach a lens to the body. might be an idea to pop in to your local camera shop and ask to hold a few get an idea what you need, hth. mike

The D60 Looks really good for a "newbie" lol like me, Looking at a youtube review now, they recommend it highly =]

see when you say "d40/x/50/60/70/s/80/100/200" that makes me just get confused lol, Dya mean model type?

I've just found a D60 for 225 apparently mint condition, pm me if you would like details. Not listed on this site, hence why i havent linked it.

Rob.

another good idea would be to take a friend with you who knows a "bit" and can help with your choice. your next questions will be "does this lens work on my camera" ;) not all nikon lens work fully on all nikon camera,s thats why i would,nt recommend the D60 no in body focus drive :cuckoo:

I would most definitely recommend the D200 with a kit lens over a new D3000 its like chalk and cheese.

Ha ha, Where i live they all follow styles/attitudes etc so I have no chance in that sector  Would the D60 come with no lens or do they come with len`s as standard?

Sorry as you can tell I'm a real nebie coming into the photography world :cuckoo::shrug:

they usually come with a "kit" lens 18-55 zoom very basic but gets you started

AF-S lenses arent too expensive though. for example my 18-105 vr went for 125, but the sale fell through because i found a spec of dust behind the rear element. the guy wanted a mint lens so it will be going up for sale again at a reduced price of £115. the image quality is totally unnafected.

couple that with a s/h d200 and you could have change to add a s/h 50mm f1.8.

my lens will autofocus on the d60 shown above, but the 50mm won't. (plenty people use this lens in manual focus)

Al
