thinking of buying a macbook pro laptop , 1 question to put my mind at rest.
will 13" be ok for photoshopping or will the screen be too small ?

It's big enough but u could always buy an ext monitor and hook it up when needed. I use 13 inch when editing away from home and works great. Go for it!

I think that the view on laptop monitors in general, is that they are OK for when you are away from your true monitor at your desk.

Anything is better than nothing, so I am hoping that a 12" is going to be good enough for me.

I would never use a laptop as my "main" computer!

It's fine when you are on the road in hotels etc but I'm amazed when people use them as their primary computer when at home, I would call that masochism

sorry should have stated it was for use while out, i am learning ps and i have more spare time to learn when enjoying my other hobby although i would prefer not to have the spare time

So long as the contrast and colour is good then size does not matter within sensible limits. I'm guessing a Macbook has a decent quality screen.

Still only 6 bit colour rather than 8 bit.

The 13" will be fine.

15" & 17" are nice to have but by no means essential.
