    home studio white background attempt

Found it - I can see how those are 'artier' than mine, though I'm not really wowed (not sure if they're all there though, I see 3 and someone mentioned #6). I might try to mimic the hands on belly close-ups, though belly-buttons skeeve me out a bit! Thanks again.

    home studio white background attempt

No need to preface with humble, opinions appreciated regardless. I just don't want to look back on these photos and see only my photographic mistakes. I can see what you're saying about the expressions, but if I'm honest about my reasons for choosing these 6 shots, they're the ones (from...

    home studio white background attempt

Thanks for the comments, I'm struggling with the posing and frankly haven't seen many examples of well-posed pregnancy photos that weren't more glamoury 'sexy' shots, which isn't what I want here. It's also tricky for my wife to look comfortable standing, as she isn't ;) I'll try to even out...

My setup was intended for the baby (those ezyboxes are pretty small for 1/2-3/4 length adults!).

    home studio white background attempt

Wife at 38 Weeks by KMud, on Flickr This is my first attempt with the home studio and it was a faff. I used a couple of lastolite ezybox softboxes, one at belly height camera-left, one overhead camera right. I hit the white muslin with a naked strobe, and naturally failed to get much of it...

    Arrrrggggggghhhhhh Cheap Extension Tubes

Yep, unless your rings have the lever to mechanically relay between the lens and camera body you'll lose aperture control. Of course older lenses with aperture rings will work without aperture control on the body. I don't know about cheap rings, but the Kenko rings have both the aperture control...

    d90 v s5pro

I've owned both - the D90 simply feels like more of a complete camera, and has more dynamic range than you might think. As mentioned above, the S5 is crippled by its speed - not just the framerate, but even in reviewing your photos. Also bear in mind the Fuji is only 6MP in real terms.

Bokeh Nikon 50mm 1.4D **Pic added**

Doesn't look like a fair comparison to me, background distance may be different and foliage can tax the smoothness of bokeh of any lens (including 85/1.4D, 85/1.2L, etc). Also, the second pic some would argue isn't bokeh, it's just out of focus whereas the dog pic you can see the transition. I...

How to ignore picture orientation when importing raw to photoshop HDR?

If you want a quick solution, just reorient and save the offending images as a different format, say 16 bit TIFFs so they're equivalent to your RAW files. I've never had this problem, though I'd have thought if you rotated in the raw viewer the .xmp files should keep this from happening.

    memorybits.co.uk - 60% Off

Fair enough, I meant comparing their non-discounted prices...the 16GB Sandisks weren't nearly as keenly priced as their 8GBs.

Thanks  The Sandisks 8GBs actually seemed reasonable, but a lot of the others didn't.
