Why not try the Industar-61 L/Z 50mm f2.8 apparently this has macro ability better than 1:2. Usually available for £25+ on ebay. Reading various revues it has a good reputation minimum focus 30cm.

Sony has a wealth of good lenses especially the recent low cost SAM range. Sony SLR/SLT also have the use of all Minolta AF lenses since 1985 especially the sought after beercan lenses and don't forget all with image stabilisation.:)

I find your argument a bit negative. When panning is it not the first couple of frames that count, once speed is established then the following frames become less relevant for following subject. Personally when panning I use both eyes one on the camera and the other spotting the subject.
