This is actually a photo I took a couple of years ago on a walking weekend in The Forest of Dean, I always liked it and it always reminds me of how "blissful" that evening was :giggle:

Hello and welcome to the challenge off to a good start with that image even if it is a old archive shot. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

Thanks Amanda, I am looking forward to doing this as I find it hard to get inspiration and reasons to use my camera.

Hi, Gareth, it's your project but you might not learn as much posting an old photograph as you would taking one for the theme. Tell me to bog of, though (y)

Anyways, it's an interesting photograph, but I feel if you could have included with outstretched arms it would have worked better, and a grad filter.

Welcome aboard.

Cheers.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I totally agree about taking a new photo, which I might do this week.

Regarding the photo itself, I would liked to have got more of my arm but the camera was balancing on a fence post, so I was scared to let go of it lol.

I am curious how this project is going to go for me as I am preoccupied with a new born at home and working long hours the rest of the time. I think I am gonna have to keep my camera in my car with me at all times in case inspiration shows its face unexpectedly lol

Does anyone know how to get a picture from flickr into my post using the mobile app? I don't seem to be able to get the direct image link from flickr, just a URL to the page.

I will use this as my entry for bliss.

In my eyes there are two forms of bliss shown here, the first is the blissful sleep my little boy is having and the second is the blissful peace I am having because my little boy is sleeping.

Camera: Samsung Galaxy S4
PP: Google photo editor - tilt shift & preset style to change colour tone.

Hey Gareth - you need to request the desktop version of Flickr on your phone browser, select the bbc code for image sharing, copy it, then paste it into you post in the forum app...... While I'm here , 2 nice interpretations of bliss, really cute pic of your boy sleeping - might be tempted to lighten it ever so slightly though

Hi gareth :)

Sorry but I was a bit disappointed to see an archive shot for the first image, I always am (but that's just me) BUT then you come up with a cracker, I really like that, newborns are a distant memory for me now, but boy can I remember the times of rest, real bliss, a nice shot that and a great moment to have on camera :)

Always try to think of a new shot, worst case scenario most themes can be linked back to an item in your home if ideas are lacking, OR take a shot off theme as a 'Joker' then at least your camera is getting a workout and your skills are being improved - Good luck with the rest of your 52 (y)

Gareth... Im in a similar situation to yourself... Struggling with family life... Job etc... Ive had a 3 year break for those reasons... But no more! I guess the point im making is photography is about the image... Not the device used to capture it! So like you i fully expect to use my iphone for a good few of the shots! Right place right time and all that! Also cameras on phones are great now!

Thanks for your comment Dean, this is the first time I have done/took part in something like this so I am hoping it will help me a lot with my camera skills going forward.

The shot of my little boy caught my eye as I was walking out of the en-suite, when I went in he was awake and making loads of noise and by the time I came out he was silently asleep and the idea to take the shot sprung to mind.

I would like to have taken it with my DSLR but I left it in the car that night, so the closet thing to hand was my phone. Honestly, I don't normally take photo's with 'my' phone as I feel the Galaxy S4 camera only really works in perfect lighting conditions, whereas my partners iPhone takes brilliant photos in almost any light, so when it comes to quick snaps on a smart phone I will grab her iPhone if I can.

Good play on words for the topic. Brilliant idea and well executed.

For me, I'd prefer to see sharpness in the face of your little boy. If the T&S treatment has blurred it with your intent, then that's fine. Second, the sheets/duvet cover is quite distracting from a colour point of view. Perhaps a B&W treatment, or desaturation of the greens might bring the subject into a bit more prominence. These are just my opinions though. Feel free to ignore!

Great start, I think I'd also have liked to have seen the first without the hand. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Hi Gareth - that's a nice replacement image and perfectly on theme. Impressive capture with a camera phone and although it could do with some lightening of the shadow areas, you've done well with the camera you had! Good job and as Dean says, always better to see a non-archive image :)
