Help settle a bet about focus points.

Been to the Loop many times and always use centre point with horizontal helpers on my old 1D3. Works for me and I would trust auto mode. Interested to hear how you got on though? What did you both use and who had the most success?

Canon 1DX - Official Owners Thread

Just picked one of these up last week :) Secondhand but nearly used with less than 3000 actuations on it and it looked untouched. First outing was RIAT where I doubled the shutter count in two days so gave it a good test run in order to compare to my 1D3. Going through my shots this week and I...

    Audi RS6

Don't really get the 'slammed' thing on a car like this, thought that was more you're Vauxhall Corsa 'upgrade' whatever floats yer boat I guess  But I do agree that the shots are too tight, will work on that

    Audi RS6

I haven't been out to re-frame yet, just looked back through the shots I already captured, but is this a better composition? I didn't crop the shot and processed as normal plus used a software grad on the foreground. Audi RS6 Avant by andyjayh, on Flickr

    Audi RS6

Thanks for the feedback, just what I wanted. Background and composition is where I struggle with on these types of shots, I'm fine with something grey and pointy coming in at several hundred miles per hour but give me a situation where I'm in control and I can take my time, I go to pieces :lol...

    Audi RS6

I'm not really well practiced at static car shots but as I've just bought myself this RS6 I thought I best give it a go. So just after I bought the car I drove through Wales on my way to the Mach Loop for a weeks togging and came across a lovely place called Elan Valley. Stopped to take some...

A day at the Mach Loop

Well worth the trip if you get a good day :) You would be right, they are. One of the difficulties of that particular location within the Loop is the sun sits low to the right and wipes the incoming part of the valley out until it goes behind the hill you are standing on. So all incoming...

A day at the Mach Loop

And thanks to that little article and the individual who made a couple of quid selling the pics, low level flying and photography thereof came to a sudden end in the UK :bang: It's never recovered back to the same levels and now we make do with many blank days in the hope of one or two aircraft...

A day at the Mach Loop

Stokes, may well do mate, it is a fair way from this part of the UK!! I normally stop off the night before at my mates place in Oxford as that takes an hour off the trip in the morning but I was thinking of staying over in the Loop next time. More the merrier :)

A day at the Mach Loop

Thanks for the comments guys, I hadn't noticed that this thread had been bought back alive! :) No sadly that was a single ship F3 but I was still very happy to see one at all through the Loop, very rare sight today!! I normally use shutter priority but that day I gave aperture priority a try...

    Decent Insurance?

I use aaduki and so far they have been very good. Haven't had to claim yet and that is obviously the time when you find out just how good they are :bang:
