    Nuthatch

Wow that first one is absolutely stunning! That really is one of the best bird pictures I've seen, fantastic composition, well done.

Red Kite feeding on the wing

Wow really nice processing on that one, really pops out the frame!

    My first Osprey with fish

Wow super catch Mark! What focal length were you at if you don't mind me asking? I spent a day sat in that hide last year, and they didn't come closer than than a few pixels at 840mm!

Some More of the Little Owl

Incredible Karen, really fantastic shots the lot of them.

    D700 vs D800(e?)

I upgraded from a D300 to a D800e three weeks ago myself. I was having similar concerns as those raised in this thread, particularly did I really want to go to full frame given my primary focus is wildlife. Would I really find the new camera a step up from the old D300? I can now reveal the...

    Misty Kessies

Wow what a super image! Almost looks like a painting with the mist.

    Hawk Conservancy

What a cracking set. I was there again yesterday myself, but I can't even find the kites in the viewfinder, let alone capture them as they are about to grab the fired food! Thanks for sharing Pete, you've given me some more inspiration to go back and have a few more goes. That first one is a...

    Bank Holiday Kingfishers.

Wow what a fantastic set. Like you, I also got up early on the bank holiday and trudged along a stretch of river. Didn't see a thing, not even a flash of blue!

    Hawk Conservancy, March 2011

Thanks very much for all the kind comments. It was my first proper outing with a new lens, which is taking quite a bit of getting used to, hopefully the ratio of in/out focus shots will improve over time. I'll definitely be going back, it would be great to join some of you if there is a TP...

    Hawk Conservancy, March 2011

After living within 25 miles of the Hawk Conservancy at Andover for the past 12 years, I finally got around to visiting  What is it about us never visiting things on our doorstep? If, like me, you'd love to see birds of prey in their natural habitat but don't have the patience to camp...

    Some birds in flight

Absolutely fantastic John! I was trying to get something similar last weekend, and came away with nothing on a par with these, they are brilliant!

    Blashford Lakes Showcase

Some great pictures there Geoff, thank you for sharing them. The big problem for me is your equipment - its almost identical to mine yet you get fantastic photos from Blashford and I got ... er rubbish shall we say when I went earlier this year! You have inspired me to try again :D

    Red Squirrel

That's a lovely shot Karen. I'd really like to get a shot of these myself, I visited the Lake District last year and when I was driving along they were plentiful in the road and the trees. As soon as I got the camera out however, nothing. Not a critter to be seen :)
