Hadn't actually considered weight! Good points though - maybe the 100-400 then. Also the shorter 100mm end is more practical for general use if it's on the camera I guess?

That bad huh? We're not city people, so will likely spend one night in SF (the night we land), then rent a car the next day and head out...

Any particular recommendations for a (super)tele to hire? Off on holiday in August, doing Pacific Coast Highway, San Fran up to Seattle, then a cruise from Seattle into Alaska. Hoping for some bears, bald eagles, whales etc. Will be taking my usual 24/35/50/85 primes, but was looking to hire...

So my insurance is "replace for new/latest version", so potentially would be a A73/4 (I don't think I'd bother with the R if offered...) Anyhoo - I've packed it up and sent it off to Fixation, shall see what they say.

    Poll on Drone use

The fun thing is sorting out what's actually a rule, and what's a "polite request masquerading as a rule". Only the CAA have authority over airspace, so whilst the National Trust (for example) have a "no drones" policy, this is unenforceable. You might not be able to take-off/land, but if...

So my trusty A7R2 fell out the boot recently, whilst attached to the camera bag with a capture clip - and the rear screen and card-reader now no longer work. Does anyone have any idea on cost/feasibility of repair? It's insured, with an excess of £350, so just wondering whether I'm looking at a...

Just a random addendum to the camera bag chat earlier on. Having espoused how much I love my Peak Design 10l sling, the zip broke mid-walk whilst out in Cornwall. Not a complete disaster, as just wore it on the front but a pain nonetheless and not easy to fix. Contacted Peak Design about...

Yeah - see I like that, find it easier to access the lid pockets, also useful for blocking out rain/drizzle when opening it.

Mine certainly took some loosening up / wearing in before it became easy, especially the front pocket which was actually hard to use. Don't find the main lid tricky though. They've since done a v2 release which looks marginally better, but I see no need to switch.

Surprised there no Peak Design bag fans here... I have their 10L sling and love it; capture clip on the end to attach the camera when in use. Even with it inside, still space inside for 2 lenses, batteries, with tripod slung underneath too. Love mine. I actually used my camera recently (having...

https://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/frequently-asked-questions/drones I mean, it's very much "Don't fly drones without permission, and we're not likely to give permission in March - August", and they are the land owners of the Roaches Estate, which comprises the Roaches and Hen Cloud...

    The General Drone-Related Thread

Grumble grumble grumble... I was up at The Roaches in the Peak District for the weekend. I considered taking my new drone, but I knew the Peak District authority doesn't allow drones to be flown without permission, and this isn't granted during March - August due to bird nesting. It's pretty...
