Not a fan of #1 at all and I agree they are all a little soft. Just keep it in manual now and experiment with the settings

In short a higher ISO will allow you to use a faster shutter speed in low light but the quality is compromised. The trick is to balance all the settings to obtain the perfect picture quality so read the hand book and then read it again and again
