    Sensor/Mirror Cleaning

Actually it isn't but I agree a mucky mirror could cause AF problems as the light path for AF is through the reflex mirror to the sub mirror behind it. A mucky reflex mirror could also cause AE problems because that light path is reflected by the reflex mirror to the AE sensors (which reside in...

    Downloading problem....

It is the full program and it will down load but it won't install (or run obviously) unless the original software keys are present in the computer's registry. Many have fallen into this trap. There are ways around it apparently that involves manually making entries in the computers registry...

    Downloading problem....

You can try the un-install/install method if you like but be aware that the software available on Canon's website are updates and require the original software that came with the camera to installed before it can be used.

    DOF at f2.8

Did you have MLU on? Also, if those shots at f2.8 are unsharpened RAW just converted to JPG I reckon that's about as good as it gets.

    Canera battery question

Canon say in the bumf that comes with the grip that the batteries are used simultaneously, but I've read that the actual battery in use actually depends on the terminal voltage of each battery (as detected by the grip's eletrickery) and that the supply to the camera is constantly being swapped...

    Bit Of Help

Matt, as Stewart has said, cheap filters are likely to have a detrimental effect on image quality and a filter in the £10-£20 range is a cheap filter. Stewart's suggestion of a Hoya Pro 1 Digital is a good one but they don't come cheap (££40-45ish?). Personally I think the Hoya HMC UV filter...

8 GIG SanDisk Extreme III for £33... Chips with that? Amazon!!

These should start to fall in price as the newer UDMA cards become more prolific. The Extreme III (or the Extreme IV for that matter) won't be much good on the new Canon 7D for anyone who feels the need for an 8fps burst.

    The canon G10

The only problem I get with my G10 is its disposition for blowing detail the highlights - easy enough to get around generally but you need to be aware. Other than that I think it's a good camera but has all disadvantages that most if not all point & shoots have - less than stellar performance in...

    Info wanted on Exmoor area

I hope the weather is kind to you ladysue. Like most areas in the West Country, Exmoor has some of the most stunning scenery which can be seen simply by driving around. A nice round trip would be from Timberscombe (almost bought a house there a year or so ago) up to Dunster (very picturesque)...

    50D misaligned?

I've just check my 50D and it seems fine - both in DPP placement of the focus point and liveview alignment.

    50D misaligned?

That's the SI (Super Impose) plate I'm talking about. It's not really a user removeable part although it is relatively easy to take out. With a camera as new as your 50D though I wouldn't even think about removing the plate - if you can send it back I'd do just that, either that or send it to...

    50D misaligned?

If you are absolutely sure you focused with the edge of the selected focus square aligned on the left side of the battery it would seem there's a good chance the SI plate in your camera is not quite where it should be. I can't come up with any other explanation.

    Amazon?

From personal experience, I'd be very wary of purelygadgets if I were you.
