    Soil Stripes

Agree with most of the above. I want to say it's a bit 'flat' with the BW processing but then at the same time there's a lot of heavy black and contrast in the fore/mid-ground. Would be interesting to see this in colour as I'm wondering if the colours in the trees/houses etc would offset some of...

Sony Taking the camera phone to a whole new level!!

Don't really see the point in these, if you're going to carry lenses around why not just take a DSLR!

    Pretty pleased (boasting)

Like the second one and how it's open to interpretation. For me, I'm waiting for some old english soldiers to come across the scene with canons etc.

    Sunset photos

Sun setting you'll be fine. Rarely do you look directly at the sun anyway as the surrounding will be more important.

    Tripods

Ditto the above. Recently travelled to Amshterdam and Berlin. KLM and British Airways, neither would allow the tripod as carry on - metal poles big no no (I had a small roller banner which had to be checked also due to the metal/plastic supporting poles).

    Gig photo advice

Hey Lee, Well I suppose the short answer is that if you want the gig, you'll have to accept their terms so long as the copyright remains with you, they are just dictating the usage. Might be worth asking if there's a time limit on the images having to carry their watermark perhaps. G

    London By Night

Hi Kalin, I like the first shot particularly. I would take Matthew's point but would have to say that bar bringing out a little of the shadow areas it works well. This is a night shot after all and the heavy contrast between light and dark, for me, in this sort of shot is a must. On the...

    Thai Boatman

Hi Guys, thanks for the comments. I know what you mean about the left framing, annoyed me for a while... I was sat on front of him facing forward so had to turn 180, need to get more supple! This was shot at 24mm (FF) and f/13.

    My Little Model

Number 3 is actually my favourite. It feels the most natural expression of them all where you have really caught her. The vignette and DOF is giving the shot lovely depth and actually, I think the position of her arms and hand looks and feels natural, her shoulders and lower and relaxed. The...

    Advice? 5 Arches

Hi Adam, As the other posters have all said, your histogram will show you where your light and dark spikes are occurring. To take a step back though, before getting onto bracketing and layering, take some time to look at the scene your presented with and decide which are the important...

    Thai Boatman

Hi All, Been ages since I've posted on TP and then only a few. Life and trying to make money from photography took over just enjoying taking pictures. Was lucky enough though to get out to cover a friends wedding in Thailand a few months back though. Grabbed this shot whilst having some...

    Dilapidation

I'm on the fence with this shot. I particularly like the old and run down (insert gag here...) but feel like I'm just searching for something to grab me from this image, something to, ironically, bring it to life and given some hints to it's history and abuse. Perhaps a lower angle closer to...

    Experimenting with colour lighting

Hi Robin, I think I'd agree in part with Simon in that the face-on position is taking some shape out of your models pose. However your thread title is about experimenting with coloured lighting, so I'll talk about that first ;) I think that given the pose and shape of the hair you could...

    D7100 Upgrade

Hi Ashley, I've had the D7000 from new but not tried out the D7100. Prior to this I had a D90. I can honestly say that for me the upgrade from from D90 to the D7000 was remarkable. IQ, noise and dynamic range (much punchier) was a massive improvement. I have comfortably shot at over 1500ISO...
