    Red Kites with New 7D

Cheers guys I used my Sigma 150-500mm, which performed superbly from a focusing point of view, it focused really quickly. I think I had to camera set to multi-point zone focusing with AI servo, so when I reviewed the images after, many had focused on wingtips or tails so their faces were OOF...

    Red Kites with New 7D

Hey Guys and Gals The 7D turned up a couple of weeks back so I decided to head off to Gigrin in Wales to give it a test. Perhaps I should have read the manual several hundred times over before using it in anger. I had autofocusing issues because of how I set up on the day. However, I did get...

    Brecon Beacons

Hi Haven't posted for a while so I thought I'd put some on from a training walk a group of us did last week. 12 of us are going to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge, ascending the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours, all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. Anyway, here...

md, too be honest, both shots lost something in colour but the b&w versions just seem so much better

Elan Valley Black & White HDR

Following a trip to Gigrin a couple of weekends ago, we decided to go back the long way via the Elan Valley. It was bitterly cold so didn't hang around much. I did get a couple of bracketed shots that I thought I'd try HDR on, but I know I wanted black & white. Here are the results...

    Kites (not ones on strings)

Agree with Ian, getting both exposed correctly is difficult and depends on the conditions. Great shots by the way, I presume Argarty is a reserve of some kind, or perhaps a feeding site like Gigrin in Wales.

    Kite in the garden

Great shots of a beautiful bird. Whenever I'm down the M40, I always look out for the kites, its a gorgeous site. Off to Gigrin on Saturday to see the Welsh kites, hopefully get some good shots.
