This week has been a heavy one with exams etc and so I've gone for a simple macro shot of one of the most addictive things to play with - Bubble wrap. Would love to have more time to spend on this image but physics don't learn itself. o_O
I like the low contrast, high key feel, you do that very well. I also like how the ring add's interest and completes the image. the blue shot on the top RHS is the only issue I have. Good job :D
I agree with all the feedback given, my only fault (and is a small one) is the uneven lighting on the LHS. It doesn't ruin the image though, its still a great shot.
I quite like the composition and colours, I can't help but think the gun was added in PP though. It it wasn't then fair play, it just doesn't look real to me. As an improvement I'd avoid the clipped highlights in the toe's of the shoe, maybe defuse the flash more? Regardless, its a striking...
I agree, I like to get it right in camera, but then I still have to get it right in PP ;)
I prefer the first edit, the second one look too forces in PP to me, I like the scene but to improve and a nice sky and better light would help the image and also the image is a tad soft for my liking...
GardenersHelper, Thank you very much for your response. Your photo's with close up filters are far better than I even considered possible with a close up filter. I think that my first purchase will be cheap close up filters (which will not be as good as your but will help me get a feel and taste...
Thank you for your advice. I had not considered the aperture control, I can see that being as issue since DOF is an issue in macro stuff. I'll have another look today at extension tubes and see if I can pick up some second hand ones with electronic contacts.
The generally gist of my problem is this: I want to try macro photography as its something I've never done. The kit I own (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and 55-300mm f/4-5.6) is excellent kit IMHO but doesn't focus at close distance. The 55-300 which I see myself using for macro stuff has a minimum focus...
:agree: Also, built in flash's have nothing on external ones. I only use the build in flash on my D7000 if I really have to and even then I don't use it a key lighting, only fill.
Here is my entry:
Opened in light room
straitened and cropped
exposure lowered
contrast boosted
highlights lowered
shadows recovered
clarity boosted
sharpened
red and green vibrance increased, yellow decreased
split tone added to warm the highlights and cool the shadows.
