Insurance help (PROBLEM GETTING COVER) Small Rant

I used to be with Imaging Insurance but looking at the restrictive clauses in their policy (inc. so-called extreme sport etc.) I moved to Windover Howsen. The new policy is £200 more for me but if I need to claim at least I know I will get reasonable consideration, unlike the T&Cs of Imaging...

    Question concerining underwater equipment.

It took one of these out for a shoot in the Amazon, along with a similar DiGipak and a EwaMarine. Pricewise there was a difference of £20 to £200 and they all performed equally. All are cumbersome to use but they do the job upto about 5 metres. After that the seals 'could' become an issue and...

Stolen memory cards - WEDDING DAY

Sorry to hear about the loss. It really sucks. I've had the car broken into a...

    School Photography Question

You DO NOT need to be CRB checked for the event. The school can ask to CRB check you if they wish but you do not NEED to be checked under these circumstances. If you were doing the work regularly and unsupervised then yes, but that is not the case.

Approaching a local photography business - how to go about it?

There's no harm in asking. It shows a bit of initiative and drive. Something that I look for in anyone I am taking on. We mentor quite a few volunteers (through the Vinvolved scheme and other initiatives) each year, plus other people to train-up. I NEVER look for photography knowledge in...

    580EX II backup flash

It depends on what you need it for. If you don't need the greater functionality of the 580 then the 430 will be fine. Compare the spec of the two against your needs and weight it up. I have several of both but as a stand alone flash I always reach for the 580 first, just because its has...

Not at all. However, it was just a suggestion. Take it or leave it.

Or just hang the trigger off an off-camera flash cord. Easier, cheaper and more versatile.

Need a good book for Lightroom please?

The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book by Martin Evening. Its first class but depending on what you need, it's structured more like a 'reference book' than a 'tutorial book'.
