The iPhone 8 and X cameras.

So much passion behind the brand of phone that people purchase! MY CHOICE IS BETTER THAN YOURS, VALIDATE YOUR OPINION! :-) I own Apple and Android devices. Both have great hardware. The Apple devices just are a bit more polished with regards to the software and ease of interoperability. My...

The iPhone 8 and X cameras.

Nice bit of kit. My S8+ cost nearly that much, but really these things are as powerful as midrange laptops now! No one is twisting anyones arm to purchase thankfully. If i did buy one, then i'd be buying it in the US for sure. (presuming the LTE stuff plays nice)

    Any Lens Cloth "Experts"?

I use a clean cotton t-shirt. For me its more about the grease that accumulates rather than much else. Sometimes I use this a foaming face wash which I squeeze some on the t-shirt first to help remove any grime. I'm using modern lenses (predominantly a Zeiss Sonar 1.5 ZM) from past 30 years so...

    Home network / video server

There are some seriously complicated answers here! If setting up some TV's with some NAS capability (without various webcams etc) then POE switches and CAT6 sounds a bit extreme. Dependent on the size of your house and age of TVs, fast AC wifi can suffice. Also Cat6 is thick and unwieldily. Cat...

Examples of photo image quality affected by sensor size!

I'm on the enjoying without faff mentality too. *If* the person isn't particularly bothered past taking holiday snaps though then them purchasing a larger sensor/bodied camera isn't going to be that beneficial for Facebook sized daylight lion shots. An SLR is a utter hassle comparitively. (argh...

    Windows 10 compatibility

Watch out with Windows Disks and licenses. You may run into trouble if you're using a license multiple times (May have to ring MS and inform them that your previous computer isn't using the license) Note also that Windows 10 is no longer a free upgrade from Windows 7. You would need to purchase...

    Lightweight compact travel tripod help!

If you're backpacking around Thailand then perhaps you may prefer to use a smaller gorillapod type setup. It appeared, at least to me, that photographers with big cameras or tripods out there don't really suit the environment- Unless you're just staying in BKK or another city. Have fun!!

Beginner Looking for my first camera. I have a few in mind

I hope you have a great time enjoying your new camera! I haven't tried that model but I can recommend Sandisk Extreme Pro UHS-1 SD Cards- I've used 16GB cards in my cameras (One of which was an OMD-EM1 which is kinda similar, as well as in a Nikon DF, Leica Q, Leica M) as I don't shoot video...

Will a lens mist up in a humid environment?

Yep for sure my Olympus 12-40 lens would demist quicker than the others, but unfortunately it's not air tight, so its always going to mist up with condensation. Boooo

    Beginner Newbie alert here

Many of my friends have had great experiences with the smaller Canon and Nikon bodies. You benefit from a warranty if buying new. My dad has a D5000 and continues to take fantastic photos. Without the size and weight disadvantage of FF or larger 'pro level' bodies! As mentioned in other posts...

Am I right to move to a Microsoft Phone?

I personally wouldn't invest anything into Windows based phones these days. You can have the best hardware in the world, without a software ecosystem though (of which theirs is relatively dire), it's just some microchips. If its for personal use and you're just surfing the net and taking a few...

Will a lens mist up in a humid environment?

Happy xmas eve!! I lived in Hong Kong for a few years until recently. Your lenses and sensors may fog up when exiting AC and going outside. It happened for me almost every-time as i kept my AC fairly cool to counteract the maddening humidity. I found best to pop the camera outside for a bit...
