    Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/21

I've got one, had it for two years and it remains on my camera 50% of the time, the rest of which is taken up by my 28mm, both of which are stunning to use. Also have a 50mm and 85mm, it is all I use really. I love working with primes, so easy when focussing hyperfocally using liveview. Carry...

    Your proudest photo?

These two from my trip to Skye last December, just after all the snow started and the country shut down.

    Elgol storm brewing

It's a shame the snow has gone from the Cullins, I was there in December and we were blessed with great light and lots of snow, couldn't get to Elgol one morning due to the gritter lorry getting stuck !!! Went to Loch Ainort instead and shot the Red Cullins with snow in very soft pre-dawn...

Any Pro Landscape Photographers Here ?

I focus hyperfocally using live view. I use prime lenses so it helps a bit and the DOF markings on the lens help as well. I zoom in to maximium on the live view screen and focus the lens to an area along the bottom edge of the screen, usually centre but not always. This would be different of...

Durdle Door - how to get there

When I go I park in the layby outside the campsite (free) and walk in. In the winter the gates get locked at 4pm and every time I go I see that somebody has failed to read the signs and then has to pay £20 to get someone to come and unlock the gate. It takes about 15mins to walk to the beach...

    Slideshow from Skye.

Many thanks Jon, next trip is Tromso, Norway hopefully might see Aurora Borealis mid Feb. Must get out locally again too, sunrise looked good this morning.

    Slideshow from Skye.

Wow, thanks for the kind words Ali B. I know you visited there earlier in the year and are an advocate of the D700 ( I think you got yours a few weeks before i bought mine) and the odd workshop or two. It is only now, having been back for a couple of weeks how lucky I felt to have got...

    Slideshow from Skye.

Earlier this month I attended a photographic workshop with my favourite landscape and portrait photographer, Bruce Percy, on the wild isle of Skye. I booked the course in February and due to the weather almost had my hopes dashed after the snow came down. I had already had a holiday cancelled...

    Old Man Pink Skye.

I was lucky enough to be able to get to Skye a couple of weeks ago just after the snow started, about a week after the east coast of Scotland got it. This image is from the second day sunset, our small group of three spent the best part of two hours hiking up to the Old Man in blizzard...

Your best Landscape photo of 2010

My favourite so far but then i am just starting to get through the images I made recently on a visit to Skye. Our small group of three spent the best part of two hours hiking up to the Old Man in blizzard conditions. I almost turned back after trudging up 45 degree faces in two feet of...

    The Cobb - Lyme Regis

Very nice Jon. Very Nice colours and a good sky for once. I like the curve of the sea wall and it does lead the eye in nicely If the other photographer bothers you it can always be removed. A bit rude that he did that, I would probably have been annoyed, especially after a two hour drive...

Another Durdle Door thread, sorry !!!

Cheers Peter, The first is the strongest for me too. I could not quite get the composition the way I wanted it in the second image. A re-visit in the future methinks. Cheers Dave, it's hard to get an original take on an often photographed scene, even this version has been done before but...

Another Durdle Door thread, sorry !!!

So as the title says it's another shot from Durdle Door, for those of you sick of this place I apologise :nono:, but bear with me one more time. I got some new lenses this week and was eager to get out come rain or shine so I headed back to the delightful Dorset, in anticipation of some nice...

Portland - Jeremy Walker / Robert White Photographic Lanscape Workshop

The first shot was a complete mare, I had sun spots on the image which I've tried to clone out but think I need to re-visit this one a bit, I think it is a bit oversaturated which is why the water in the very bottom left is looking a bit too green. I'll have another go at it later, I'm sure I...
