    The Canon 350d thread.

Many thanks Arthur! TBH the web image dosn't do it as much justice, I had a 20x30in print of this done and to say I was stunned is an understatement! :)

    New 1d3, need memory cards!

As the 1D Mark III can only write to a memory card no faster than 11MB/sec your current cards may be fine. Have a check to see how fast they are rated, anything around 15MB/sec will do the job well enough, anything faster than that is overkill. :)

    1d,5d,7d,50d?

Going FF will give 2 out of 3 of your requirements straight away, IMO FF images just look that bit better than the images from a crop, and Canon FF models are always good in the high ISO stakes. I just moved from a 40D to a 1D III and would highly recommend it if you need the FPS. If you...

Quick Santa Needs to Know - Canon Walkabout Lens Choices

The better noise handling capabilities of the 7D over the 40D means you can bump up the ISO to get a better shutter speed, so I'd say no, you can always use the Nifty if you need shallow depth of field. Not in build quality terms, IQ can get close depending on the lens. That's a call you...

    The Canon 350d thread.

Not proper HDR no, but I did blend 2 different exposures as the shot was taken in low light with no flash. :)

    The Canon 350d thread.

I moved on from the 350D a couple of years ago but it provided me with some of the best shots I've ever taken. I often think about picking one up again as a spare body, I might just do that now after looking back at it's results. :) A few of my favourites from it - With an EFS 10-22 With a...

My fear to consider a lens other then Canon

Noticeably better IQ along with much better build and focusing are major differences in my book, we'll certainly have to agree to disagree on all the points you've just made here. I guess the best thing the original poster could do would be to visit the local camera shop and try them for...

    Canon 24-70 f2.8L or ???

It works on my 1D mk.III 1.3x crop, so yes. I'd recommend the Tamron too but I'd say go "L" if you have the cash to spend. :)

My fear to consider a lens other then Canon

I had the opportunity to use both the Canon 10-22 and the Sigma 10-20 over a weekend to see which I preferred... I bought the Sigma. Hardly any difference IQ wise between them (maybe slightly better colour on the Canon). Better build quality goes to the Sigma, and better price goes to the...

What should i upgrade to - a canon question

As this is going to be a new purchase (Canon outlet are good but most of what they sell is refurbished, so that's the 40D out unfortunately) that leaves you with the 500D and the 50D. Out of these for what your mainly using it for I'd personally go for the 500D, your getting most of the 50D's...

    Canon 17-85 or Tammy 28-75

I have owned and used both at the same time, I sold the Canon 17-85 after a couple of weeks. ;) Compairing the focus, the Canon is faster to lock on due to having USM and it tracks moving subjects well. The Tamron (while taking slightly longer to lock on) was able to track moving subjects just...
