    first macro shot

The flare is a really nice touch. Very good.

    first insect macro attempts

In the name of constructive criticism... Firstly, the composition of #1 isn't something you should get into the habit of using. A good rule of thumb for insect photography (and many other types of macro shots, for that matter) is to shoot them side-on, and not from straight overhead. Secondly...

    Mid-air water drop

Nope, no Photoshop. Couldn't even if I wanted to ;) And again, thanks.

    Mid-air water drop

I've always found that a drop will always refract the background no matter how far away it is. The size of the subject (in this case, the flower) will increase or decrease in the drop, depending on distancing, but whether or not you can actually see the refraction depends on how in focus it is...

Plenty of these about at the moment

    Mid-air water drop

Just me. I have to hold the camera in one hand and the syringe in the other, which can make focusing a tad tricky :)

I really don't know! Mine is just a compact - no extra lenses or anything.

    Mid-air water drop

Thanks :) I always use an Olympus SP-550. Very good camera, although focusing can be a bit dodgy at times. For this shot and others like it, I use a shutter speed of 1/1000, aperture of 5.6, and a medium-level flash. Focus on the syringe/eye-dropper and commence dripping ;) Let me know if you...

    Mid-air water drop

Cheers. I normally use a feeding syringe to create the drops, keep the flash on to avoid blurring, and rely on plenty of trial and error ;)

Always enjoyed taking this type of shot, and felt the urge to have another crack at one today:

    Water Beads

Nice one, although I do agree that the curve at the bottom is more a distraction than anything else. Reminds me of one of mine come to think of it:

Awesome shots. 6 is indeed particularly impressive.
