Sony Alpha 7 III - What type of filter? What do you recommend?

UV filter will do absolutely zero to the image, a polariser will cut some glare and reflections off the water As long as it’s used correctly.

    TAAB focusing tab

I have one on my 50mm f/0.95. Makes a huge difference. It makes for one finger focus like my Leica 50mm. The only issue is getting the right size to fit. Thankfully there is a fair bit of stretch, so go smaller rather than bigger.

    Leica M10 shutter dial sound

Mine sounds solid and how I would expect it to.

    MPB

I ordered something a week or so ago and it arrived within 2 days, 1 day of that was cos my wife went out just before the DPD man showed up. I decided it wasnt for me and used their online chat to request and RMA. The person was polite and helpful, no hard sell or questioning. I sent the...

The cameras are exactly the same. The software might have regional differences.

    grey market + updates

Just think about that for a second.. Cameras are used all over the world, especially ones like the z9. Say you are from Britain, but you buy a camera in Japan and then go to Antarctica to shoot it.. How in the world would Nikon stop you downloading firmware.. Grey market is no different...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

The 180-600 might just bring me back to Nikon. I used Nikon since 2005, but my last new Nikon body was the d700, which I still have, but in the meantime have been using Fuji and Sony. The Sony 200-600 is an amazing lens and does everything I need it to, along with my a9, but I have GAS and it’s...

Focus tips for 600mm lens (Sony setup)

Yes, flexible spot small or medium works best for me. I don’t like expand flexible spot for in woodland settings, too easy to trigger one of the outlying points, just use one single point And move it around with the joystick.

Focus tips for 600mm lens (Sony setup)

There is an issue with the 200-600mm and one of the a7r bodies, but I can’t recall which. The lens just doesn’t seem to like it and many people report focus issues with that combo. However if that’s not it, then use single point, on the smallest setting, not any of the wide or expanded spot...

E-M1X too heavy with Olympus 100-400mm handheld?

I handhold my Sony a9 with the 200-600mm, l bracket and arca Swiss plate, so a total of approx 2.2kg all day. I also have fibromyalgia and other health issues, but I manage ok. Its purely down to the individual on what’s too heavy. I can also handhold it down to about 1/10s and still get sharp...

    Upgrading from a 70D - A7III or A7IV?

I own an A9 and an a7iii The A9 is worlds apart to the a7iii when it comes to autofocus, and the blackout free viewfinder is something that now I've experienced, I couldn't live without. For a laugh i tried my a7iii with the 200-600 mounted, that is usually exclusively on the A9. As someone...

    Nikon Z* mirrorless

So tempted to get a z8 instead of a Sony a1. I currently have an a9 and a7iii and the Sony 200-600mm amongst a few others. Ive been saving up to get an A1, some more MP for cropping would be nice, but something doesn’t sit right with me, paying £4.5k+ for a 3 year old body, when I could get a...
