I was happy with the white splodge & four specks of light I got with the Bigma last weekend, but this is something else! :eek: I would love to get into this sort of photography.......expensive?.....

I have a nice little program on my laptop - Stellarium. Free to download - works a treat. And more than enough detail to find your way around the sky. Shows the planets, constellations, moon, nebulae - the lot. (I always have the Bigma with me when I head down country at the weekend. Captures...

PP is slightly heavy on them - I think that's why I like 'em! (Horses for courses & all that.) :thumbs:

The Sigma 500 will certainly have the range. I don't think I've ever used the x2 converter on it with anything as fast as an aircraft though! Save it for when I'm stalking something slow or static. Given our usual weather, don't think I'd want to sacrifice the stops to a converter either...

Agree with Dave - purely subjective. And, like art, if I like it I like it. If some people say it's overcooked, fair enough! I regularly overprocess - but it's just to p*** off my colleagues.......:naughty:

Canon 100mm 2.8. Easy to carry, sharp as a tack, lightning fast focus (and even referred to by some as a 'hidden L'.) Have used it for portraits and on a focusing rail for macros (and reversed my 50mm on the front as well.) Bought off Kerso a year or so ago - worth every penny. :thumbs:

As already said, some basic PS skills are handy for the odd rescue but if the essentials aren't already captured, then not much point. I would use PS to 'enhance' the odd photo. For day to day stuff, much easier & less time consuming to make sure they're as close to perfect (as in 'fit for...
