WAMT....what annoyed me today!

Last time I was in a services, around half of the EVs on charge were occupied. I can see the need for a few accessible charging spaces but not "normal" charging slots.

Not today but actually Thursday, left Edinburgh airport around 9:45 bound for Madeira with Jet2, descending towards airport pilot informed us of high winds at airport preventing landing(winds had been gusting for a couple of days) so we were going into a holding pattern and hoping for a wee quiet spell to land, 20 minutes ish later passengers were informed gust increased so we were diverting back to Faro. On landing pilot call his home office-we were in front row and could see into cockpit- who after some discussion announced-aircraft control want the plane back in the UK tonight so it’s likely we’ll be returning to Edinburgh, after a wait and refuelling we were told we were Edinburgh bound and holiday cancelled for all on board, refunds would be arranged.
What annoyed me most was I found last night that around the time we took off for home the winds had dropped and flights getting in so if we’d headed back to Madeira we’d most likely have been able to land.
Refund is heading for bank and a week in Portugal arranged but I’d have preferred our two weeks in Funchal I’d booked, was looking forward to meeting friends and eating in places we always visit. Ah well, s*** happens.
Sorry long rant over.

A certain "British" vac manufacturer, that took my money a week ago, via Amazon Pay, for a replacement switch, including extra, for "Next working day" delivery, heard nothing, since, no delivery, no contact, until finally, a note from DPD saying that they are expecting my delivery. I had already messaged Amazon and the said "Tech" company to cancel and refund as they did not deliver on quoted day after! Still no word from Tech company or The big river lot! Customer service - NOT! UPDATE:- Swich arrived - Doesn't work properly! Doh!

WAMT was me getting annoyed at severe traffic (over an hour to get about 8 miles)...

The traffic was caused by some accidents, including a life threatening one on the M5, so some people were having a FAR worse time of it than me.

The price of chocolate in Sainsburys and probably everywhere else too. £4 for a bar of Cadburys Orio and also £4 for a packet of M&M's. I didn't buy either.

Also why is there no thick chocolate any more? It's all wafer thin.

How big was the Cadburys Oreo? £2.20 for a 120g bar in Morrisons.

As for thick chocolate, Tony's Chocolonely are my faves.

Used to eat (far) too much chocolate but now restrict myself to a single Lindor ball every evening. Spend far less in the long run.

This was a big bar but I don't know the weight. I'll check what I saw at Sainsburys next time I'm at ASDA.

Sounds like the bar @Nod linked to above.

Yes. I tried the link earlier and it didn't work. It's working now.

I used to by a Milka Oreo bar that size but they disappeared from the local shops and the Cadbury one appeared. I wonder if it's the same bar just now rebadged as Cadbury? The Milka one was cheaper. Ah, just Googled it and Milka is also owned by Mondelez but is made all over the place in Europe.

I agree with the comment above, the Americans have murdered Cadburys chocolate.

Cadburys no longer make chocolate. We currently buy Sainsburys Dark Chocolate Bars or that 70% stuff which is expensive.

We did the tour at Chocolarium Ljubljana and it was interesting to see what was involved with making chocolate and I can see why it must be difficult to sustain.

I think it could be up to three cacao pods to make a moderate bar of dark chocolate and each pod can have up to 50 seeds/beans. Then there were things like how few pods a tree would produce each year among other variations and also the limited places and conditions where these trees can grow, I couldn't help but wonder how there can be enough of these trees to even make all the chocolate that we have.

Then there are the other two less common bean types that they talked about, the "serious" chocolate. I can't remember their names so I've looked them up: Criollo and Trinitario beans.

Mrs WW likes dark chocolate with a minimum of 70%. Still wafer thin though.

We don't often buy chocolate, but if we do, then the wife likes Lindor and some of the better stuff from Lidl.

I'm trying to cycle more, especially when the weather is good. But God damn those older diesels that pull out on you, then accelerate hard leaving you to cycle through their Euro 4 carcinogenic wake.

As much as anything it's worn injectors (or Fords as standard) but yes, it's horrible.

A gorgeous young lady once told me that the only chocolate was Lindt and that you had to put it in your mouth and let it melt until you had a chocgasm! Well, I tried it with several of the girls in the office and the noises they made and the faces they pulled were, as she said!

Some of them that I get stuck behind in traffic queues don't need to accerate, it's bad enough when they are idling. The air recirculating does help, but only for shortish periods.

Aye but no such reprise on a bike. I even find with a car's recirculation that you really have to switch it on before you reach the pollution, otherwise it feels like you are recirculating the pollution around your car.

After years of trouble with our cctv we though everything was sorted and then this morning... dead again. Bloke coming sometime to sort it out but I'm just sick of this. How hard can it be?

Me too, the 70% type.

I wait for the post Christmas sales, when there is generally a 1/3rd reduction in price, then I stock up for the following year.

Toney’s dark almond is my downfall, I try to make it last 3 days but have only made it once.
I have a square of 90% dark chocolate after lunch and dinner, satisfies my “must have something sweet” thing.

WAMT - Recalls! I went onto B&Q to look for something and came by the recalls pages................... Yes, pages of them. Much of it for gas and electrical products!!! All made in you know where! :rolleyes::rolleyes::headbang:

The palaver of doing ID checks when selling and buying property! For a start, not everyone has a passport or driving licence! My driving licence expired over a month ago. Luckily, it was accepted. And then there are the fees. Twice!

The rigmarole one has to go through with regard to money laundering, such as when paying off the mortgage, is also a bit of a nuisance. Whilst I appreciate the reasons, it still feels very much like guilty until proven innocent.

That was for both Estate Agents. Just to go through it all again for the solicitors!

DONT BUY FROM SELLERS who use EVRI on eBay

my 2 parcels where incorrectly left at the wrong address
''Proof of Delivery'' photo was not my shed

when contacted, eBay said that EVRI had confirmed they had delivered to my postcode

and so, despite thousands of purchases over the years, eBay have refused a refund

back to the high-street methinks....... :headbang:

Post codes, generally, cover, typically 15-20 houses.

I read of one customer who got a photo from the company showing the parcel had been left on the doorstep and it was a different type of doorstep. They say "no reply' yet the customer was in all day. We've had parcels left on the doorstep only to be found when we opened the front door for whatever reason. No doorbell ring or knock. I used to feel sorry for them...hard work, driving all day, heavy traffic, hold ups, peak time driving, in and out of the van, some parcels poorly addressed ,some houses not easy to get to, having a very tight time schedule. I've given up feeling sorry for them. I used to give them a fridge-cold bottle of supermarket water on very hot days.

They bosses are complete shysters/sheisters

Firm erecting new lampposts in our area along with requisite cabling so a bit of upheaval with roads/pavements getting dug up, they finished last night for May Day bank holiday weekend? and left the entrance to my drive like this. Not sure when they restart work.IMG_0575.jpeg
Some drives have plastic ramps, some not.

This is week 4, maybe 5 of new lamppost installation programme, 3 small streets getting done, not managed to even get all the new post in the ground yet, but laying trunking for new cables.

Update, picture below shows state of play today Monday, managed to get car out across the grass as company were sitting up mini digger, road roller etc, all this despite council assuring residents that we would be informed, in advance, of any work that would affect access. Am I surprised? Nope, not at all.IMG_0577.jpeg

Small claims court methinks...

WAMT Well, this week! Folks over the road had an electrical outage. It turns out that the mains cable connection had corroded in the street. They brought a generator, to keep them supplied. Signs men came, then left. digging crew came, then left. Repair crew came, ordered bits, then left. Came back another day, fixed the cable, then left. A lorry with a grab came and cleared to spoil, then left. Another lorry brought concrete and backfill, then left. Another crew tidied up, then left, leaving the signage and fencing. The generator was finally picked up, so no "brumming" 24 hours a day. Bank holiday now, so still navigating the temporary signage! In my day, three blokes several spades, a toolbox and a truck would see it done in a day!

Coming down the A12 yesterday there was a "Roadworks" sign.
My wife said "when do you ever see a man with a spade, it should show some big machine"
