The 2014 ETC... project

Right, the challenge is that each month I will post up a list of 6 different effects, techniques or creative ideas for you to either select one or use all 6 or even two themes and 3 pictures for each. However many you select, you will need to have 6 different pictures for it. There will be repeats through the year so you can perfect the e.t.c.

This could be anything from star trails to multiplicity to tryptichs to light painting. I have had a fun search around the internet and built up quite a list.

The etcs will be posted on the 1st of the month (as best I can, if not a day or two after), once you have taken your first set, you can start your own thread here in the challenges sharing section and then up date it each month. With regards to commenting, it would be nice if we could comment on each participants threads just to offer encourage along the way.

Depending on sign up numbers, there will be a prize at the end of the year for the best set chosen by the TP staff (any mods that join the challenge will of course be excluded from this prize). To qualify for this, you must have completed at least 6 months challenges throughout the year. You cannot use photos from other years. All photos must be taken in 2014. To be in with a chance of winning, you must have at least three photos from each month, taken in that month. Obviously the more photos you have to pick from, the more chances you have of winning. Themes will now appear on the 1st of every month and you have that calendar month to complete three or more

October's theme is something different - Timeslicing. You need to set aside a good day for this. I want to see a certain period of time in one photograph. You can either merge them or have multiple vertical strips in one photograph. Have fun :D. Here's some inspiration: http://news.distractify.com/pinar/dan-marker-moore-time-slice/

November's Themes are:

December's Theme is to pick a theme that you have not yet done already (although with you lot, that could be any theme at all hahahahaha). This means that one theme you wanted to desperately try but ran out of time, you have the chance to do again

Yay my first victim willing participant

Thank you :D

Yep I did. Thanks, have edited it now :D

Are you joining in? :)

I did it last year and really enjoyed it. Some cracking themes. It'll be a challenge but you'll really enjoy it.

Also, keep an eye on that Brian_of_Bozeat...he has a thing for cows :)

Good luck all. Think I'll pop in now and again for a look see.

Cheers.

Think I'll give it a go. Really need a kick up the bum to get me out shooting other things than the family/kids. Please be kind though, never done anything like this before and rarely share my photos

Yay, more willing participants :D

Welcome :)

I think I am gonna give this a go, looked at the 52 but don't think I will be able to keep up, this systems a bit more manageable, I did have to google the first themes though :)

I will get my thinking cap on now and get experimenting

I've stumbled accross this challenge and at first was thinking it'll be too much to try and take on and try and do my 365 at the same time, BUT having looked at some of last years themes and threads and echoing @minnnt Ive never heard of many of them either, think its intrigued me enough to try it :)

All themes can be done with any type of camera and don't just have to use photoshop, Gimp works perfectly well with all of them. Have a look at what the 2013 guys did and yes, google is your friend. All the themes I found on google anx have tried to make it inclusive for all.

Well done to the first few brave souls that have started their threads, I will update the first post with these

Please everyone remember to comment on each others threads and encourage each other.

So, how is the first week going?

Anything I can help with?

I agree, Andy

I've also updated the first post with the links of those who have joined in. Please remember to comment and encourage each other through this, it's as much a learning tool as it is a competition

Let me know if any of you are struggling and I will see what I cna do to help (or I might just ask the 2013 participants to mentor haha)

Not too late at all, join in. Have fun

I agree with you David, I have enjoyed it so far, but hats off to the people doing the 52 and 365 projects, I find it hard enough finding time to do the 12's :)

Always happy to help.

Dropping out due to fixable problems should never happen (y)

Cheers.

Likewise Kelly. I'll be dropping in anyway to offer feedback from time to time :)
