Ok been looking for a new Body to replace my D60 to up the ability a touch since seem to have reached liimits of what a D60 can in terms of picture qulity etc etc and wanted something that I will not fear a bit o rain hittgin occasionally....


Went to local shop Wilkinsons in Carlisle they had a nice D300s £1109 ouch too much but when sat next to a D90 I realised where your extra money goes and realised that as this one hass to last me a fair few years maybe would have to stretch to one..... next day go in and in there second hand bit sits a D300 just in looking brand new.... mine fer £749.... shutter actuations 973

Well done sounds like you got a bargain! There are plenty of tutorials and guides around

The menus are extensive compared to the D60 so spend a some time getting used to it and how to change things when you need to! Although to be honest you will find as the camera has so many hard buttons you will not have to use the menus nearly as much as the D60!

There is a D300 owners thread here too which I would recommend going through!

Ken can LINK Ignore some his settings for vivid and you will be fine, it is a lot easier to follow that the 400+ page manual.

ive just received my new d300s and new lens and its like being licked by a thousand kittens..

any on a serious note nice link the manual is huge..weighs nearly as much as the camara body lol

I have just replaced my D200 with a D300. It is a really good camera and you will be very happy with it

Thank all so far button bashing is teaching me loads and I have abeen playing about ..... must say WOW a whole WORLD away from a D60 lol was lost without Av and Sv on the dial to start with love the custom settings etc .... now wonder if it will talk to a Nissin 466i...... thanks all and the LINK is great in fact just been walking me through some stuff on it very impressive
