Can't I just buy a foot pedal to do this: - The second improvement for me is the 3.5mm-connection on the Plus III allows me to trigger the Plus III using a simple pedal.

Yes no reason why not.

Although it might be a little like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time, and you'll need to get used to the sensitivity and delay associated with using your foot and not the shutter of the body to your eye.

Didnt Tobers get a foot pedal to trigger a remote camera and also keep it shooting whilst he had his foot on the switch/pedal. I think he had it working initially but the remote would only allow single shooting ...

Yes he did make one.

I am wondering if it can get a cheap one. There is one on Amazon but the cable is only 1.7m. So I need to get on with a 10m cable.

i think he rigged his to a pocket wizard to trigger the shutter. Thus he didnt need the added length and he could move around a lot easier.

Ah so you have PW, say in a waterproof bag on it's own. Then have your cable from the foot pedal going to this PW which then talks to the remote one.

I will have a look for his blog on it.

Tug have a look at the 4th photo where he says he has it on a mono pod. I am wondering why he has a cable coming out of the PW. Any idea?

I had a look back at the posts Tobers made. He did initially have a problem where it fired but only one shot at a time. I can't find what he did to change that.

Anyway I have just been down to Maplin with camera and triggers.

What you need is a MOMENTARY action footswitch.

Maplin have one labelled Eagle G028B but it looks exactly like the Soundlabs ones available elsewhere.

Anyway the Maplin code is DU99H - this search brings up both the on/off and the Moment one.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/footswitch-with-6.35-mono-jack-plug-10004

Maplin also had this one called a Sustain pedal. It is more expensive -http://www.maplin.co.uk/m-audio-sp-1-sustain-pedal-787655 - but is built to a much higher standard. HOWEVER it did not fire the camera at the same speed of the cheaper one !!

If you don't have a Maplin near you or want to save a £1 then you can get the Soundlab one on Fleabay.

I also bought an adaptor to go down from 6.3mm to 3.5mm - Maplin code N88AN. However that also makes it clunky so I got FJ99 3.5mm stereo plug. I just need to find someone who can solder it on for me (i.e. getting rid of the 6.3mm plug) http://www.maplin.co.uk/metal-3.5mm-stereo-plug-1187

I need to get some speaker wire like this 20m for £4.90 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-METRES-LOUD-TWIN-SPEAKER-WIRE-CABLE-AUDIO-CAR-HIFI-HOME-SURROUND-SOUND-SYSTEM-/151134953716?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item23305860f4 and get that connected to one of the footpedals.

On page 4 I mentioned the triggers not going off. I have since spoken to two other togs with different triggers and their's didn't go off either. So was it the TV cameras or the advertising boards that had loads of electricity going through them? Not idea yet if they would work over 20 meters. I will report back in a few weeks when I find someone to solder for me :D

Yep probably right :D

Anyway folks here is a 5 second video. Okay the vid was taken with my mobile in my left hand, whilst my right was staring in the video :) so not exactly stable or great quality lighting but at least you can see it in action.

Looks good to me... nice work in setting that up. Tempted to pick that up myself for that amount..

Tug

The video I put on is with the PW Plus IIIs. Works a treat.

Tobers

Are you still using the Olympus behind the goal. The shots on your blog with it were fabulous.

What settings do you use?

What was the results with the Plus iii Tobers?

Not got a iii, only a ii I'm afraid.

Tobers

Yep. I put it on shutter priority, 1/500th, auto ISO, manual focus, and adjust the exposure comp if there's a lot of sky in the picture. I'd like spot metering with an adjustable 'spot' as often the spot is up in the sky so the metering goes awry.

Getting much usage and is does it vary from Prem and Championship?

Nope, but did have a DPS in the Sun from a League 2 game at Wimbledon from it, but otherwise remote shots are hit and miss I think. I have taken to putting the lens through the net to get something different without the net in the way, and hoping the camera doesn't get hit! Results are very cool and different, but it's a risky approach!

Thanks

Could have been some good shots if Townsend's shot hadn't hit the crossbar..

I just counted 19 cameras behind the Poland goal (first half).

Looking out for Tobers' teeney weeny one :D

Yes I see Dan is there and Paulhc64.

I am annoyed with myself.

I was reading up on Hyperfocal distance and tried it at Millwall last Saturday. Well I tottaly messed up the focusing. Could have had some nice shots from this goal.

Then at Palace on Monday night I set up my remote first, then every b*gger set there's in the same place. So I moved mine and the best I got was this of Sidwell's cracker. But it's a nothing shot.

Anyway will have it in place tomorrow night for the England vs Wales ladies game at The Den, then at The Valley on Sunday for Charlton vs Wigan. I know I will eventually start getting some good shots.

Any suggestions on a trigger from calumet or london camera exchange.
Was gona pop there before the footy tomoz..

I've got 3 fairly good remotes from last weekend to share. Taken with two 20Ds at 18mm, then cropped. One 20D was near left post and captured a goal. Second 20D near right post captured a goalkeeper’s save. Although a non league match I had rather limited space behind the goal so had to set them close to the net. I’m planning to get a wider lens, hoping to have both shots covered by 1 remote.

I’m not a 100% happy with them, focus should be a bit further away, leaves on grass certainly don’t add to the photos, a net covering goalkeeper’s eyes is just a bad luck and the 3rd shot should have less sky / more grass in it. Have a look:

Have a chat with them and see what they recommend.

Gregory those are pretty good shots I reckon.

Can't suggest any triggers from those shops, but my recommendation would be to get some cheap and good triggers online, get a shutter release cable and try them at home first to make sure everything's okay. I used Yongnuo triggers from ebay.

I'm glad the goal happened in the second minute of the first half so I could find them easily. What are your ways of finding the remote shots you want? Do you ingest them all and then choose from all of them? Or try to find and ingest only the ones you want? How do you do it guys?
I’ve seen that blog post by Tobers about PW and a foot switch. Great idea but I think adding a foot switch to control is a bit too much for me at the moment.

Gregory I just ingest the whole card and wiz through them. There may be a better way but not sure what it is.

Or I could have dropped mine up to Rob to take with him as mine are just sitting in my case doing nothing this weekend. But Bolton is a bit too far for me lol

You dont need a wide angle for behind the goals :)
