Cobra's 2021 52 Creative Calamities Week 52 showcase, done and out.

I must admit I was a bit stuck with this ..

Week 11 Smooth operator, with a smooth shell ( wing cases)

Week 12 Alive ....
A bit like Frankenstein's monster :D

An air layered Acer Bonsai from a couple of years back.
It was allowed to grow on unhindered in a large pot,
but now its in its final resting place. It'll be left to settle un hindered for another year, until its training to a proper mame ( small Bonsai) begins.

The second image with the Zippo is for context as to size.
And yes the pot is ( deliberately) not a true oblong.
The wire is there until the roots are strong enough to hold the Acer

Interesting image for alive Chris, how long will it take to be how you want it. I like Bonsai trees, but they take too long I think to not grow and look like the real old looking ones.
Smooth, nice pair of Lady birds, I guess one must be a Man bird.

There is a saying that the only "finished" Bonsai is a dead one :D

It tends to be on-going TBH. a couple more years, after this year, will see it more or less shaped.

I like Bonsai trees, but they take too long
I have no idea why I took this up, I'm an impatient bugger :D

Is it a Frankenstein of a plant? Nicely lit and as always, I enjoy the back story to these.

Great ladybird shot. I agree smooth is a much tougher theme than rough was.

Thanks Bee and I guess its more "a chip off the old block"
As it was Air layered :D

Gotta admit I struggled with that one too.
I did think about me in a Tux.
But decided I'll save that for a scary type theme :D

[emoji23][emoji23] you should have gone for it. Women can’t pull off smooth dressing like men can.
Also smooth things are just more difficult to photograph than rough things.

Anyway you are done and dusted. I think I have my alive one sorted now too [emoji4]

Women can’t pull off smooth dressing like men can.
Meh, not so sure, but then again, men can't do "glamorous"
Well some think they can, but that's a whole new subject :D

Really think the dark background works well to stand your subject out for Alive. Not a subject I'd choose mainly because I'd have to wait for "Dead" for me to do it as I have whatever the opposite of green fingers are.

Like the Alive shot. Something almost primeval about it...
Mary Shelley indeed [emoji83]

I suppose as trees have been around quite a few years, they may well qualify as primeval :D

Great shot for Smooth. Super sharp and vivid.

Nice one for Alive too. I like the contrasty look and the tree certainly looks alive with buds.

Both good images for the theme, interesting Bonsai image with the zippo surprised at how small it is

Its mame, (or will be eventually) they are smaller than your average bonsai.

Smooth
Can't get that song title out of my head now!!

Alive
The scale shot with the lighter really does show how diminutive the bonsai is

Smooth
Great close up and colours. They look like they're having a good time.

Alive
I do like the bonsai shots, I find them quite fascinating.

Nice choice in the tiny bonsai, we have quite a few, we really like them.
Great fun aren't they? what do you have?

Great smooth shot.. pure insect porn :D
Alive - The lighter shot illustrates how small it really is.. can they get any smaller??

I love those very tiny ones, we have a few of the Chinese elm, one I bought OH for his birthday over twenty years ago and that looks very good, it’s kept a really nice shape, we also have really pretty azalea, looks great in flower, and the oak tree that I’ve done for this weeks topic.

They are so versatile aren't they?

Happy Easter

I also like the original triptych but the minion did make me smile. Great idea!

I like that a lot, but it messes with my OCD... I'd have had to have the unhatched egg in the centre.

Just love seeing H in your shots Chris, two great images.
Cheers Dave :)

Cracking picture..
Thanks Mark :)

Nice idea the one without the idiot minion
Harry has been making an appearance from time to time, since last year.
Its just a fun image, most people chuckle at his antics but I guess He can't win 'em all eh?

Its not actually a Triptych its a single image.
Glad harry made you smile, Ian that's his purpose in life :D

But then it wouldn't show what happens when an egg hatches
Thanks for dropping by Nick (y)

Perfect for the theme, I like the triptych idea it tells a story, your minion made me smile :)
Thanks Susie :)
But as above for triptych.

Alive: I like the pictures and I like bonsai trees but the anthropomorphist in me thinks it's rather cruel; of course the plant cares not at all.

Easter: Is that a real chick hatching?

Cheers Martin, I flippantly call it torturing trees, in reality
its every need is taken care of, its fed, watered and nurtured.

Easter: Is that a real chick hatching?
The hard part was getting it back in the egg to get the shots :D

Hi Chris

your 2nd shot made me chuckle.

I think you need to boil your eggs a bit longer.

Great shot, lots of detail, good colour and the black black background adds a bit of pop to the image.

Great idea with the progression. Works really well on the black background.

Harry is still hatching a plan to get in on the action then? He fits well in the colour palette [emoji16]
