Hi everyone,
I suppose you all have some kind of camera that is portable for when you are on the go. I wanted to share my experiences and you can share yours.
First I had a Sony A5000 and it was a good idea except it becomes quite big when you stick a zoom lens (that isn't the kit) on it. Even with the kit lens it is not exactly that compact. APSC sensor though.
Then I tried a Sony A6000 which would also serve as my main camera but I thought better of walking around with a relatively expensive camera and again the size with the lens. (I think there is a pancake prime lens available for this system but might be Zeiss and therefore expensive)
Then I tried film SLRs. Nice idea and they are cheap but all the ones I used were still heavy and cumbersome and honestly, digital is more suitable for me as carry-around. Film is a little more specialised nd a hassle in other ways, as much as I love it.
Now I have an Olympus XZ-2 and it is perfect size and weight and good ergonomics. A joy to use. I got it secondhand very cheaply. 1.8-2.5, 1.7 inch not bad sensor size, shoots raw and so on. The only problem is that for sure it is better than my Motorola phone cam but it is noticeably not as good as the Sonys or a DSLR with a prime lens. Obviously!
I am not obsessed with sharpness and IQ in general as my posts here testify but to not spend too much you must compromise on IQ often for the small size. Maybe someone here is using another system like Fujifilm or Olympus mirrorless that is small, light and also has small and affordable interchangeable lenses. Baring that, I am curious what your carry-around camera is and what you require of it.
Thanks
