First car

Oh dear, showing my age :(

Mine was a Ford Anglia, a bit like this one

A Standard 10. complete with starting handle, if anyone remembers that model then you must be getting on a bit, much like myself, not sure what the original colour was, but when I bought it the colour was a horrible faded pinky beige.
I have had to many cars in the intervening years to list, now drive a 05 Vauxhall Astra td estate

Probably not many of us - too many bad habits now :embarrassed:

When I move to Canada, I have to take a driving test to get a license in British Columbia  I feel sick just thinking about it :(

I know how you feel! My American license has expired since I've been over here and I'm going to have to sit a new one. I cannot parallel park to save my life. I failed my drivers test 3 times in NY when I was 16 because I couldn't parallel park. I wasn't able to get a license till I was 19 and my parents moved to Connecticut where you don't have to parallel park. I'm not quite sure what I"m going to do.

First car I drove was a ford escort estate E reg.

I have yet to actually own my first car, all the cars I drive / have driven I'm a named driver, but never the owner.......yet (in all likelyhood not for a while yet as I'm now getting a bike)

My first car was a Blue 1974 mk III.5 Ford Cortina 2.0 GL with plastic seats and in the sunshine used to be so hot the plastic burnt you as you sat down, I don't miss the car, I do miss the fact there were no speed cameras and fewer cars on the road.

A 1974 Hillman Hunter way back in 1983. It was my Dads old car that I had to fix and get through it's MOT before I could drive it. I bought myself a Haynes manual for it and fixed all the things that needed doing before I even passed my test. My Dad is next to useless with his hands so i taught myself basic motor mechanics.
I had to take it for the occasional test drive round the block though. (slap wrist)

First car was a Porsche 911 SE.
Dean:)

Ooops! just spotted a slight typo,
was meant to read Ford Fiesta:LOL:

Mini 850cc. I can't remember the year but it was so old that it had one of those gear leavers that came out at an odd angle from somewhere deep in the bulkhead. The engine mounts were worn out and every so often I would loose 2nd and 4th gear due to the engine and gearbox creeping forward a little. I used to have to give the lump a hearty kick to move it back into position

:D Mine was like that and it was pot luck as to whether you had selected the right gear

Sounds familiar  sweet memories  IIRC reverse was somehere up near your left ear lol :D

My first car was a 1967 Beetle 1500 same colour as this....

My little Nova was a fab car, the only car i've had that i still miss! had it for eight years from new and only ever had the usual stuff like brake pads / tyres replaced, my Dad bought one too and it went round the clock totally reliable. we loved em!!!!

as for an Astra diesel, you were asking for it there   :D

I now have a Mini One in black! love it!!!!!!!

1981 "w" plate Fiat 127 here - the top half of the car was bright red and the lower half had been sprayed silver - looked rather nice! Bought for £100 because it had no reverse gear - I learnt to do three point turns by doing the forward bits myself and Dad getting out and pushing me for the reverse parts! :D Did eventually get that fixed, and after two years happy driving I part-exchanged it for car two for £200 so that was a result!
