First Year of University - My 365

Is it just me or was anyone else expecting a follow-up shot of "This is us after a night out"... :D

 I am not sure I would want to see that!!!

I'm not sure I'd be able to take the picture! :puke:

Big white telephone Sean?

Whaatt??

Now that you put it that way, I'm not so sure... Though I did double take on the pair of horns that Charlie seems to have grown on top of his head. Either that or the security camera seems to be charged with static electricity!

Well, charlie is said to have been lucifer in a previous life. He's far less devious now.

Talking on the Big White Telephone (also known as talking to Ralph on the Big White) = not feeling too well over a white porcelain toilet!

Day 183 - 19/03/2010

My camera hasn't been used nearly enough recently. My HTC Hero has been taking the limelight, and all because it's more convenient. I am thinking of perhaps investing in a Panasonic LX3 some time because I like the convenience of a compact but I want good quality.

I'm just worried that then my slr will never see the light of day.

Anyway, today my Granddad wrote out cheques. £1000 for my mum, £1000 for my dad, a blank one to cover any costs his time in hospital (still ongoing, but hopefully out soon - he's really doing well) has cost us (bless him), £250 for me, £250 for my brother.

I would have called him to say thank you, but if you've been following the thread, you'll know it would be a wasted effort. I need to get him to start texting :p

I celebrated my Granddad's better health with my family (however I was the only one who enjoyed a glass of bourbon on the rocks :p)

Day 184 - 20/03/2010

Home again, Legoland beckons. What a bloody p**s take of a day.

I needed to come home as I had made a uniform appointment to collect my uniform today.

The structure goes like this:

Hand in CRB Check form to Human Resources>They sign it off and give you a 'contractor - legal for legoland' card>You take that card to collect your uniform as you can't collect your uniform without that card>You can only collect your uniform if you have made a uniform appointment, which you can only do a week in advance.

I made an appointment last weekend for saturday, today, and so I went there to hand in my crb check form to get my legal for legoland card, but surprise surprise, HR don't work at weekends.
No HR, no card. No card, no uniform. I'm going skiing on friday and so to make a uniform appointment would be, quite frankly, impossible.

Back I go to Legoland on monday.

Anyway, this is my helmet. I went a few years not wearing a helmet, but my Dad insisted I wore one. I stopped wearing one in my teenage years of rebellion, but I realised that was stupid. I've had this helmet for about 2 years now, I got it when I went skiing last time (2 years ago). It's a Sweet helmet, and it cost my Dad (as he insisted I wore one, and I wanted one I really liked) £150. :naughty:
The goggles weren't quite as expensive, coming in at a measly £44. Bless my Dad.

Day 185 - 21/03/2010

Lazy day today. Run a few errands, chill out basically.

Here are our skis. Everyone has new skis, except for me, as I got mine 2 years ago.

Mine are the ones on the left, K2 Public Enemies. Following that, it's my Dad's - a pair of Salomon carvers, no idea what model. Then my brother's - K2 Extremes, and then finally my Mum's. Basically, I'm the tallest in the family :p

Mine and my brother's are both twin tip skis. If you're a ski enthusiast, you'll know that's so we can ski properly backwards. They're freestyle skis, but I'm yet to do anything too risky :p

I'm just a very, very good skier. Good technique, awareness, style, control. I used to race, but everyone there was just such a c-u-next-tuesday, so I quit that. I was there for 3 years, and barely progressed at all because I hated it so much, but I didn't want to disappoint Dad. I learned a lot about carving and style and that's stayed with me, but my god did I hate it.

I then got myself a pair of twin tips (read: my dad bought me :p) and I can do a few tricks. A mute grab, a daffy, and that's about it haha. I'm too anxious to try it properly.

You're 40 days sobriety has been going well then. Will power my arse, keep it up.

I picked up a bottle of Sailor Jerry last week, purely because I heard about it from your thread! haha! Going to try it tonight.

Mate, this is a classic read. I only discovered this today and have spend the past 2 hours reading it and associating with a lot of it, seeing as I'm in my first year of uni in halls too!

Wish I had this idea as we've had some absolutely epic moments at uni! One of the best ones was taken from my friend at another uni where you wait for a flatmate to leave for a day or so leaving a window unlocked, then you go in then foil wrap everything in their room! Best spent £20 ever!.

Keep it up

Hi Sean,

Such a good idea for a project, keep it up as I'm enjoying reading :)

On a side note, I may have been seeing things but I'm sure I saw you out in Guildford on Monday night?? In Casino. Nearly said something but held back just incase I was wrong - it was dark and I was drunk :bonk:

Right, blimey I have some catching up to do. Holiday, then home, haven't had a chance to do anything on here. Yes Richard I was out in Guildford in Casino on monday! and I had a terrible time, it's one of the worst clubs I've ever been in haha. So don't expect to see me there again :p

That's pretty much standard for the Guildford club scene. Only 2 and they're both *****. At least we've got the nice pubs and bars to fall back on (y)

Day 190 - 26/03/2010 until Day 200 - 05/04/2010

Pictures to continue below.

Skiing was amazing. I missed it so much. From that first sighting of the mountains lit up by the golden glow of the evening sun, to the skiing itself.

Our chalet was small, but still okay. It was on the corner right next to a path so people kept looking in when they walked past, but it was £700 for the chalet for the week (which sleeps 6... apparently) and £700 for 4 ski passes for the week, so a cheap and cheerful holiday.

Some thoughts/experiences I had while on holiday:
- I'm going to spend a few seasons in Canada getting my Ski Instructor's license and then teaching out there when I've finished uni
- Standing on top of a mountain, 100ft away from a restaurant that had a DJ playing a mix of Deadmau5's 'Strobe' with a live Saxophonist. It was amazing. Bliss.
- I love off-piste skiing.
- Skiing completes me.

Day 201 - 06/04/2010

I'm back at home home now, but here's a picture from the slopes. A pint of Kronenbourg, sun and snow. Amazing.

Day 202 - 07/04/2010

Today is my Dad's birthday, so here's a picture of my Dad. He's hard to buy for because everything he really wants is either too expensive or unrealistic - A Harley Davidson, A decent telescope (too much light pollution), a better car, etc etc. He is happy with books, confectionery and shirts.

Day 203 - 08/04/2010

Home is so boring.
My friends are all at work, or skint, so there is nothing to do. I have a desktop computer and so I can't bring it home, and I left my Xbox and TV at uni. My room has nothing but a bed in, and as my mum runs a pre-school (so is off for easter), my dad works from home and my brother works part time, I am around them all the time, and there is a lot of nagging. It's nice to be home, but I can't wait to go back to southampton.

Day 204 - 09/04/2010

Tonight is local club night. Everyone is out.

Apart from my best mates from my town. Groan. Usual excuses - work tomorrow, no money, can't be assed. Thank god someone is coming to save the day. My friend Marc from uni is driving down from bournemouth for a night out in my local. We proceed to get trashed and have a pretty good night.

This is the KFC we had during the day.

Day 205 - 10/04/2010

Here's a fat pigeon.

Day 206 - 11/04/2010

Here's a cool bottle of Alcohol from France. I'm assuming Wisent means Bison. I wanted the Bison hat.
I'm so bored at home it's infuriating.

Day 207 - 12/04/2010

Things are getting interesting. Monday (tonight) - party. Tuesday - chilling for one last day at home. Wednesday - lunch with dad, uni. Thursday - night out in bournemouth. Friday - back to southampton.
Good week planned. Thank god I survived the weekend!

Day 208 - 13/04/2010

The party was awesome. I've shagged the girl whose house party it was in the past, but I recently got chatting to her mate (so I hope the hostess doesn't mind :p), and we had a few intimate moments at the party, and so when I go back home to sort out stuff for work I'll meet up with her.
Unfortunately on the evening of the party I was cock blocked by a lesbian girl who took a liking to her.

The lesbian girl was a friend of the girl I was getting with, and she fancied her, and decided to have an emotional breakdown. Cue girls pandering to the sad girl, and me going off and having a good night with my mates who I'd brought along.

I'm hanging out of my arse today. Ugh.

Day 211 - 16/04/2010

Last night was mental.

We started out in Orange rooms, and it was 2 for 1 cocktails so we had a couple of spicy mojitos. Next to the bar, there were all these guys of the latino persuasion breakdancing and stuff, and they were grabbing girls and swinging them around and stuff. The girls pretended they hated it and thought the guys were stupid but they clearly enjoyed it. It was an extremely uncomfortable atmosphere and someone really needed to wipe the gargantuan smiles off these guys faces, but when the bouncers came over and told them to stop being morons and dance in, hey, maybe a club rather than a bar, we decided to leave.

So far off to a terrible start.

We went to Walkabout, which is never any good according to Marc, but it's cheap drinks. Apparently.
In we go. It was about 80/20 male/female, and 70% of those males were pikeys, and the other 30% were on a stag do. We had a few drinks, got chatting to these women who were clearly about 30 but told us they were 21, and then when Marc got a text from his friend about VIP entry into a local club, we left.

We got to the club, and his friend met us outside and told us that we had to wait here while the guy with the wrist bands came out. While we're stood there waiting, we learn that this girl's cousin (the girl we met outside the club) is a stripper for the strip club 'For Your Eyes Only', and that she is dating a Sultan of Saudi Arabia, who is at the club tonight, who will be giving us the VIP wristbands.
We wait, and a tan skinned guy comes out and gives us some gold wristbands, and we go in and into the VIP area. We meet the Sultan, shake his hand, say hello, and go straight over to the mini bar. Bottles of alcohol, champagne, vodka, Jack Daniels, jugs of coke. I pick up a bottle of Jack Daniels and swig it from the bottle, grinning uncontrollably. We party until the early hours of the morning, the club closes, we leave, but Marc wants to shag this girl we met, so we go back to her flat.

Her flat is in this big block, and we got into her flat, and there was no one else there. Cue, third wheel. Anyway, in her flat there are these 2 dogs. I'm like, "Hey, are you allowed dogs in here?" and she's like, "No, but they're Sabrina's." (The stripper). She goes and picks up all the dog crap they've left on the floor, and Marc and I go into the kitchen and eat all her food. Reheated Chinese, biscuits, cereal, generally making a mess and laughing the whole time. I have to sleep in the living room on a poxy sofa while Marc has sex with her in the next room.

I receive a text the morning after from Marc saying, "Mate... where the hell are we? Shall we go?" and I was like, "Yeah, let's." The girl had gone, no idea where, so we got up and left. Turns out Marc doesn't remember if he actually had sex haha. He woke up naked, so he thinks he did.

Anyway, we leave the flat and we have no idea where we were, so we found the sea, and we realise we're about 5 miles from Marc's house. It was a long, hungover walk home.

Wahey! Nice one Sean!

And your Sultan Night looked AWESOME!

Haha, Wail, you missed out on an eventful evening :p

It's funny, I guess when these guys visit from Saudi Arabia, they go crazy because they're not allowed alcohol in SA.

There were a few of them passed out on the sofas, and the staff kept coming over and shouting at them saying "IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP, SLEEP AT HOME!"

Day 212 - 17/04/2010

So, I have 5 assignments to do.
1x 1500 word essay titled = "The internet has fundamentally changed the way we promote products and services." Discuss.
1x 2500 word essay titled = "Explain and assess the reasoning behind the advertising industry's preference for 'quota sampling' rather than other methods of sampling"
1x 10 Photograph Portfolio & 1x 800 word rationale
1x Website
1x Group Marketing Campaign Portfolio

I've done the 1500 word essay a week early (I know, good right! haha), and I've just got the 2500 word essay due for a week's time. Then the photography portfolio and marketing campaign are due in 2 weeks, followed by the website in 3 weeks.

Here's Dan dressed as a Gypsie Woman.

Student life is just bonkers.

This thread is making me feel really really old.

Ian.

A quick browse through this thread reminds me of all the things I hate about the average university student :p

Sean,

How are things at your end? Miss this thread big time, and seems a rather big gap now

I just wanted to voice my sentiments about missing reading your little escapades (some not so little, may I add).
