Formula 1 (and other categories) 2019

Sorry but I'll laugh like a drain if SV sticks them both in the gravel outside turn 1..

I think there is a good chance of that happening as SV is so desperate to be No 1.

Maybe, just a little one!!!
Guess you look like a Cheshire cat now :)

Got to feel for Leclerc, thought Lewis was really good with him after the race, good sportsmanship.

Not seen it yet - I'm too tight to pay to see it! Looking forward to seeing the highlights... :D (in anticipation!!!)

It must be nice for leclerc to pass vettel without team orders, he was capable two weeks ago too, Lewis is lucky George Russel is in a Williams, mclaren did well too except for sainz getting caught up with max

Great result for LH and Mercedes. SV doing his usual spin out next to LH. Ferrari failure always great watch.

It was shown live on Sky One too in a simulcast.

Not got Sky any more - ditched it a few years ago.

Enjoyed SV's attempt at an early victory donut... :D:D:D

As a photographer, how do you feel about copyright and rights holders being able to license their work as they choose?
I agree about copyright and wasn't intending doing it. However I am one of the (possibly) many F1 fans who doesn't have or want Sky. Sadly the greed of F1 (and Bernie) has spoilt it for many, and I'm willing to bet there are quite a few going down this route.

Bernie has nothing to do with F1.

Bernie has nothing to do with F1.
Not now, but it was he who demanded the high prices putting free to air out of the running.

It’s £10 a month, that’s cheaper than a pint in London haha
It's £10/month if you have Sky. I think Nowtv has it for £195 up front and you get all the other sport channels I won't watch.

It's sold/used in casinos, there was a big interview with the owner on Sky F1 during a race build up last year.

For anyone who does not have Sky F1 the Chinese GP qualifying and race are being simulcast on Sky One and Sky Sports Main Event.

:)

People have a lot to say about Hamilton, but you can't deny, when he needs to perform, 9 out of 10 times he does. Mercedes looked 2nd best in practice, and that double stacked pit stop was brilliant. It's all about teamwork....

I agree, HAM is vary hard to beat, I'm hoping that Ferrari will soon realise that VET is no longer their number 1 chance for a championship and let LEC race properly. I'd love to see VER or RIC in the other Mercedes car, I'm not sure BOT is able to take HAM on as well as some of those could, that is if they were allowed to by the team. I know they let BOT race but i bet HAM would soon start whinging if his teammate had a genuine chance of seeing him off. I really don't like HAM, but it's sport and not a popularity contest.

I think Bottas is a very good driver, he's just a bit "inert" when it comes to publicity. If he wasn't that good he wouldn't be in the team, but we've already seen what it's like to have a pair of "#1" drivers, and Nico decided he wanted no more of it.... Bottas is a good team player, he knows he's getting paid good money to work with their "principal" driver.

Ferrari have never let their #2 driver beat the #1 - they like to be seen to be getting their money's worth out of the major investment (In '99, Irvine could have won WDC if MS had let him past in the final race)! Mercedes do seem to let the #2 driver win when the championship is still relatively open, only getting heavier on team orders if/when they're needed.

It's like any "team" sport. The team is built on individuals, and some of those individuals have to understand that the team is more important than any one individual. That said, when you have a recognised potential (or in LH44's case the existing) World Champion, they do carry a bit of weight.

I know that, I have been watching F1 for enough time to realise the politics behind it, I just don't think it's conducive to getting the best spectacle within the sport, but hey, when did that ever matter.

Yes, but if they are the best, then show it without the teams pampering to them. :)

Hopefully LEC will be allowed to show VET the way home.

Only on sat nav, well after the finish. If SV's car develops an electrical fault...

Baku destroyed William's weekend. First a drain cover comes off and rips the floor of one car, then the recovery truck hits a bridge with its crane arm and covers the car in oil!
A mad 5 minutes.

That's pretty poor for an F1 standard circuit, the manhole covers should be strongly welded down.

I hope Williams give the track owners the bill for the damage. That team cant afford things like this to happen.

It's the FIA that will be compensating Williams, it's their event. It has happened in the past, Monaco maybe but can't remember the precise details but Claire Williams mentioned it in an interview, she can't put a figure on the costs at the moment but estimates by other's in the know are speculating around the half million mark. The bigger issue for Williams is the extra workload in the factory to build replacements impacting on the production of their upgrades, something they could well do without at the moment.

Really poor on the organisers behalf, I thought Claire was very restrained on camera about the incident and the damage incurred, organisers claim they can’t be welded down -according to commentary- they do that elsewhere so why not.

Got to feel for Williams - if they didn't have bad luck they wouldn't have any luck at all  :$

Do you think Merc have got Ferrari in panic mode?

Why go on medium tyres on a delayed q2 with the track temp getting colder, both drivers, we're struggling before the inevitable.
