the only country where the specimens were running off the shelves was Ireland

Supply and demand mate, only 1-2% of people in the world have red hair with about 2-6% in Europe. That and the attitude of some people like the poster above will probably see the % decline even further. Although I think I read somewhere that at least 40% of the UK population carry the 'ginger gene' so who knows.

I am now officially going to wrap everyone and everything in bubble wrap so nobody gets hurt and the world becomes sterile (no pun) and humourless.

ok taking this back to the OP if people are so desperate to have a child why should hair colour come into it? and for all of you that have been mocking red heads just look at the number of people dyeing their hair red. AS a red head i was hurt and humiliated when i was told that i wouldn't be able to be an egg donor because of the colour of my hair, i spent along time thinking long and hard about doing it too. (ssorry rant over )
you can't be serious...
I love red hair, I think it's sexy lol.

Come on folks, let's not poke fun. Marcel is a ginger..
Reminds me of a conversation I had at university. I was complaining about the red-headed guy next door (who was being a pain in the proverbial) and happened to use the term "ginge".Ah, but the female copper-top can be a wonderful sight to behold...
There is a horrible form of discrimination that hardly anybody talks about. Individuals with red hair often get a bad reputation, for no purpose. Currently, a story is going around about a Danish sperm bank no longer accepting red headed donors. There may, in reality, be something such as redhead discrimination. Resource for this article:Danish sperm bank no longer takes donations from redheads.
