Wild It's Time............

Very nice Dale :)

Fantastic capture Dale!
Well done.

PS Is it just me or is there a considerable difference in how colours are rendered in the forum thumbnail vs flickr? I'm viewing on a phone.

Cheers Dan.

I have noticed the thing with the thumbnail colours, I thought it was my end as I've only noticed it since having a new PC.

I will ask the question.

As discussed with Dale elsewhere, the thumbnails are compressed and obviously will look different to the full sized versions.
The flickr thing comes up from time to time, if they are posted on flicker at a very large size, and then reduced to post on TP again they are compressed at the point of posting.
We found that the best way to post here, is to save to flickr at a smaller size, say 800 x 800px and post at that size,
and not something way over that size, and reduced in flickr.

This is very nice. I'm jealous!

The kingfisher is gorgeously processed. I'm interested to know why you picked a black background. It's quite unusual and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Thank you.

I'm with you on the BG, I'm not keen on it myself. It often happens though as I use the trees on the opposite banking as my background. I also sometimes use the water if it's slow enough and is reflecting the trees, it can give some nice colours. The problem I get is that later in the day, the trees opposite go into shadow and on a sunny day/evening, the perch lights up. I'm usually exposing to control the whites on the Kingfishers, as they can be a nightmare but that can also cause the BG to go dark or even completely black.

I had an outing 2 weeks ago that I had this problem again, the light was quite balanced to begin with but after a couple of hours, the sun was creeping behind the trees behind me, causing the background trees in front of me to go into shadow but the perch was still glowing.

The light can be really challenging there.
