List of Inspiration (updated 22/09)

Received today :D Get in :)

It's so weird to drive compared to my corsa. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
My corsa just felt so much more... alive...

The steering on the focus is really heavy, despite the fact it has power steering.
The clutch is light as anything, but the clutch on the corsa was a lot more responsive.

I like my focus, and I will grow to love it, but for the time being, the corsa is still my baby.

#26: Perspective

Not much to it today.
I won't lie, stole this idea straight off another photo, but then we wouldn't be taking photographs today if someone hadn't copied someone else.

Really enjoying your set FP. Great choice of car, the focus is awesome to drive. Sometimes too awesome! :)

Gary.

#27: Three

Not particularly happy with the framing on this, cut out my baby's bottom :(

Nevermind!
Simple photo today.
Theme is three, and in front of your eyes are three cars made by Ford:
-Ford Ka 2005 1.3 (it's a girl's car, owned by a boy. Obviously gets some stick, but it isn't half quick haha)
-Ford Fiesta too old to count 1.2 (it sounds like a tractor, owned by a friend who's last name is barker. Henceforth, his name is now Farmer Barker)
-Ford Focus CL 2002 1.4 (this is my baby :) used £10 of petrol in 2 days. Not happy! My corsa could survive on a tank of petrol for 2 weeks!)

#28: Brother

2701610107_3b7749d518.jpg

This is my brother, Joe.
I don't have the relationship with him that I wish I did, simply because due to various reasons (that I'd rather not talk about on an internet forum), he acts a lot younger than he actually is. He is 15, and is nearly 16, but acts more like an 11 year old.
Rather than accepting this and getting on with it, I find myself constantly baffled and irritated at his level of immaturity. I wish it was different, but it is how it is.

We get along well sometimes, and when we do, it's ace.
We will watch The Simpsons (it was on the TV at the time :p), we'll play Xbox together, we'll go to the gym, whatever. But its only a 20% of the time thing.

One day it will be different.
I want a relationship like Lincoln and Michael from Prison Break. You know, the one where you are best friends rather than brothers.

Would just like to announce my first month (if it were february) (and a non leap year :p) of my 365 complete :)

While it hasn't had the attention I would hope for, and I haven't received the support from friends/family I wished for, I feel it is succesful so far. I will make a photobook from it at the end, for keepsakes :)

well, you got a supporter here, even if your not aware of it, check it every day, just keep it up!(y)

#29: Menacing

After my sudden urge to do night photography (see last 2 photos :p) I came up with this idea.

I wanted my friend to look isolated, and lost in the endless, bewildering darkness.
Instead he looked like a psychopath.

Swings and roundabouts :p

It's the beauty of this 365. If the photo doesn't match the theme, change the theme ;)

#30: Glow

2706827253_7528ab1a21.jpg

Took Denby out for a walk with my Dad just now, and didn't find a single decent photo op the whole time. Then, my Dad lost his phone and had to rush back. So I took my time plodding back, and saw these fence panels completely splintered and glowing in the early evening sun. They looked beautiful.
Shot them, got home, GOD DAMN IT.
ISO MOTHER FXING 1600!

:bang:

Came out okay :) Still learning to use noise ninja so I might give it a go later (y)

Just caught up with your 365 mate, and some lovely images the past few days, I really like what you have done with #29 :)

Hows the new car treating you? Are you having to be prised away from it?? :p

Thanks Rob :)
Had a look at your 365 too, that through-the-window shot is spectacular. And to think it's just a phone!

My car is wonderful :) Drives ever so smoothly, and I'd really like to start doing some engine modifications to it, but I wouldn't know where to start.
I was thinking of adding an air intake and filter system, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it.
No, it's not because I want to go faster or be a chavved up rudeboi, but I really have an interest in it. I modded my bicycle to a ridiculous degree, so much so it was 3 times the price of my first car and an extremely high spec.

But surprisingly, no, I'm not having to be prised away from it :p
I fitted the radio all by myself, which I was extremely pleased with. Normally I'm a girl when it comes to electrics/mechanics.
But the fact that it's a 1.4 means it uses more petrol than my corsa, and I don't want to waste petrol unnecessarily :)

Really like the look of your car, it's so much more of a beast than the Corsa I bet. Would love to know how many miles you have hammered since getting it! :D

TV shows are all tosh :D Your not supposed to get on with your brother yet. Give it another 5 or 6 years, let him fully mature, and then you guys will find that magical relationship which will last a life time.

In the mean time, keep giving him dead arms and bullying him to do as told! :D

Gary.

"If the photo doesn't match the theme, change the theme ;)"

Classic :D

Good photo.

FP apologies for falling behind on this, not been on the PC much due to being away for 7 days out of the last 10 or so.

Gary.

Haha it is.
It flies.
My mate (who drives the Ka) got really ******ed off because I annihilated him off the line ;)
I refused to race him again. Didn't want the possibility of losing!
Ain't broke don't fix it ;)

I'm hoping so :)
Good news is that I already bully him to do as he's told :p

Classic :D

Good photo.

Only way to do it :p

Basically, my 365 structure goes in several ways:

1. Take a picture, match it to a theme
2. Go out with a theme, take a picture for that theme
3. Go out with a theme, take a picture for a different theme
4. Take a picture you like, make up a theme that matches it :p

Really like number 31 FP, and it makes me want to see what's behind the door! Keep it up,

Gary.

 thats exactly what I did, I spent a fortune on my bike which I still own 6 years down the line. I cant ride it like I used to but hey its still one of my most prized possesions :D

The only problem with modifing your 1.4 is its alot of money for a little gain :( I know a lad who's focus started off as a 1.4, then had nos installed and it was quicker than the 1.8 16v Escort I owned at the time. After that he dropped a 1.6 with the nos system in there and eventually forked out for a Focus RS engine conversion. Was a lovely car which was sadly destroyed earlier this year by a fire :( The amount he had spent on it was rediculus!! A panel filter and some select exhausts will definately help the engine breathe more easy though (y)

I know, but it's more for the knowhow. I don't really intend on racing it, I'm not the racing kind. I just like having pride in what I own, and love showing stuff off.

So since it's something that interests me, I'd like to give it a go, just for the knowledge in later life of how a car works, what makes it tick, what makes it buzz, etc etc.

I don't want it to be a chavved up Ford Focus with tacky bumpers, plastic skirts and pointless spoilers, with all the crapped up racing insides :p
I want it to have class, with a dash of style :)

#32: Digital

2713491117_bf5c1f93f9.jpg

So, last month, I bought my first digital compact (strange, because previous to owning my first compact, I had already owned 2 digital slr's and 1 film slr )

I wanted to take really decent pictures at parties/meals/days out without having the burden of the 40d to carry around (I hate using my big camera and trying to socialise. everyone shies away from it!)

Read review upon review, and came across the Samsung NV8.
Jessops doesn't stock Samsung, and the staff (2 of them being pro wedding togs, 1 being an ex pro tog, and one of the wedding togs and another colleague are both doing photography degrees in uni (not that the latter proves anything much)), and none of them like Samsung cameras. Think they're a bunch of tosh.

I thought "f it"
It had good reviews, looked ace, was cheap, so I got it. Can't go wrong.

It's fantastic. Has taken some crackingly sharp shots, and I love it! It's small, stylish, sharp as a pin, and leaps and bounds above my phone camera.

Anyway, the point to this image is - This really is a digital age, isn't it?
Everywhere you look, everything is digital.
Digital speedometers. Digital clocks. Digital landline telephones.
Computers sending your post (email), playing your music (evolved from record players).
Google calendar to save wall space.
Digital photo frames.
E-books.
You name it, it probably has a digital counterpart.

I wonder what the next stage is?
Virtual?

p.s. I have just finished my first month in photos. Proud of the 31 strong set, I am :)

It is crazy how fast things progress.

My friend had a samsung p+s and I have a sony. His was way more impressive than the sony, more so due to the fact he could adjust the f number and exposure time which gave better control over the shot he was trying to get. Hope you enjoy your new little toy.

Haven't looked for a while and it's nice to see your standards haven't dropped (y)

Keep up the good work.

Inspired by the processing style of Pete Carr

Today my friend went to hand a CV into a local music shop (Kingfisher Music, Fleet), and so I asked if I could take some pictures of the guitars. The young girl in there was a bit skeptical as to why I wanted to take pictures, but she let me anyway :p

Grabbed a few shots, said thanks, off I went.

Wanting to try Pete Carr's processing style, I thought this was the type of shot that suited it.
1. Cropped a little to get rid of some nasty lights in the top left of the frame.
2. Desaturated
3. Radial blur>Zoom>3%
4. Added noise 6% (did this 3 times)
5. Colour balance change.

Quite happy with the result (y)

#36: Smoke

2726873885_1e267ed8dc.jpg

Had another BBQ last night, and my friend who had just got back from Egypt brought his Sheisha bong round. I didn't particularly like the stuff, and while it knocked you off your feet, the feeling was gone after a few seconds, and it didn't taste nice enough to do it again.
So I took the opportunity to get some snaps.

Placed my 430ex on a tripod to the right of him, and got him to bellow as much smoke as possible. Can see the EXIF data on the photo.
Pleased with the shot, despite it's technical flaws (blown highlights everywhere :p)

#37: Cone

2726892333_de3383b815.jpg

Not a very good photo today, but I was pleased with it for a few reasons.

The drain cover was very bright and I couldn't help looking at it. Since the cone's end was the part I wanted to be the focal point, I used a wide aperture to get everything else out of focus. Unfortunately, I b****cks'd the exposure up, and the drain cover was too bright. I kept looking at this out of focus, overexposed drain cover.

So, I grabbed the burn tool, burned all around the edges of the cone, and then played with the curves a bit to get the contrasty image you see here.
I quite liked the composition of it, but if I could go again, I'd get the 10-20, whack it on 10mm, and get some sky in the shot, too. Just to fill it out a bit.

I love the processing on the last one mate, its really done wonders to the image! My only indepth crit would be the burning looks a tad patchy on the manhole cover. Other than that its very well processed (y)

It's actually darker in that area on the manhole cover, and messing with the curves (especially when I don't know what I'm doing) has made it a bit darker! Woops

Thanks for the kind comment and crit :)
