Is my only friend, but leads me into dark places that I should fear to tread.

What you need is some help with that bottle. ;)

I'll join the queue also  . Haven't had a drink for a few weeks now as the Mrs is due to give birth to our second child, I'm gagging :bang:

If she's making you give up too that's just selfish

No she isn't (wouldn't dare), I just dont fancy getting a nudge at daft o'clock in the morning saying she is going into labour with a hangover.

I thought it wasn't recommended for pregnant women to drink

Perhaps I should have worded it better, look what the lack of drink is doing to me  :crying:

The ones out here in Boxhead-Land. Blessed Sanity reigns on this site - comparitively speaking at any rate.

I take it you aren't enjoying your stay out there, and the relative insanity of this forum is keeping you sane?

I'm guessing you may have a sore head this morning Sir?

Wasn't too bad, just that too much makes me a maudlin drunk if I'm already down about something or other.
Problem with this specific location is that it's in the middle of nowhere - at least 1hr to the next decent town, Hannover. Two hours to Hamburg by car, or 40 minutes by train from Celle - the nearest town with a train station. Taxis and all that add up, so the general populace here just go into Bergen - three 'decent' squaddie pubs and a few odds and sods. But it gets a bit tiresome even after a month. If I go farther afield, I cant drink and to be honest, my German is so ****-poor that 'exploring' on my own is fraught at best.

It'll get better as my language skills improve and I get to know the countryside more.
Being surrounded by 25-year olds can be a drag though - most of my peers are married/officers and so a different social mix - the 'Pads' have theier own thing going on by and large, to which the 'singlies' whilst not actively excluded aren't really a party to.

 Never mind, you can come home and have a laugh with your TPF buddies soon :) I still feel like Billy no mates after living in Aldershot for 20 months.

Do they not have "adopt a singlie" out in Germany anymore or was it just a RAF thing? Seeing as it's sunday just turn up at someones house with your bottle of whisky and invite yourself to a nice sunday roast.

I'm a quality Lush.
Tonight it was three bottles of Dago Red to go with the spageddi 'n' meadballs (we had a Casino/Goodfellas Night) bada-bing, bada-boom...

However...

The Small Object Of My Desire continues to show no interest (quite the opposite) and my work fails to inspire me.

How bad is it? Took the car out and tested it's newly-tweaked capabilities on the local equivalent of B-Roads. This part of Germany is very quiet and the roads on a sunday are almost deserted. Even so, driving at 120mph on a public road is the kind of thing that I'd normally demand the driver be stripped of their license and jailed for indefinitely.

Self-imposed driving ban now in effect.

Time Heals all... We Hope.
