Yes
I bought a 17" Toshiba 3 years ago and seriously need something more mobile - that thing is a beast when traveling etc. Also, Toshiba is a brand I don't want to invest in again, having done so twice now and finding that I am less than impressed each time.

Looking for a laptop which works well (obviously) which I will use for net access and also photoshop but probably won't store a lot else on. Maybe a few word docs and possibly a game or two.

Can you give me some ideas for smaller laptops under £450???

I bought an Acer 4810T earlioer this year (IIRC) - I'm working on it now - but it's a 14" but very thin and light. Worth investigating further.

i use acer aspire 3810T.
less then 2kg, 13" LED screen. amazing battery life - 6-8 hours of www browsing...
no cd but i do not need one..
i do have problems with mine at the moment but purely because of retailer I bought it from ...
so I do recommend it but then not sure if I would go for Acer again ;D
hope that helps hehe

+1 for the Acer. Recently took stock of a 3810TZ. Lightroom and Photoshop are a breeze with the 4gb RAM. Good battery and lightweight.

However - 13 inch screen is ok for editing, not great. I struggle to see sometimes and wonder if i'm getting the best editing results.

Bear in mind that the Acers mentioned are not "full" laptops as such, they all have low power processors, what I'd call netbooks which means they won't be as good as a proper laptop when using PS. Having said that for a £450 budget you probably won't be able to get a full power laptop of that size (12-13" laptops are more expensive than their 15" brothers).

I've got a Dell M1330, which I enjoy for its compact size and weight, good 13" screen and excellent battery life. I'm not sure how available they are these days but a good used one would be within your budget.

That is my Laptop too, unfortunately you can't get them new anymore and there seems to be nothing that replaced them.:(

Pains me to say it but Macbooks fit the bill :(

I run Windows 95% of the time on mine.

A Macbook for £450?... :p

That's a shame - they're cracking little laptops and mine is just what I need. I'll have to look after it carefully! :)

I know, I now treat mine like gold dust.. :D

If I ever leave education I may treat myself to an Adamo, not the same but about as close as Dell do now...

I'd agree with that, pretty much the only full fat 13" laptops left are either the macbooks or the Z series and the macbooks are by far the cheapest of the two.
