I am looking for a Wider angle lens than my current 24-70, something that I can use my current Lee filter system with.

The 12-24 is very nice but the Lee adapter is expensive and no available so I am looking towards the 16-35mm f4.

As this is mainly for Landscape work on a tripod, the F4 isnt really going to bother me (I dont think).

Looking for anyone who has this lens as I would like some feedback on its performance, AF speed etc.
 
I can't speak from experience, but having sold my 14-24 a few weeks ago (mainly through lack of use caused by the lack of filter holder), if I were to ever get a wide lens again, it would be the 16-35.

I highly doubt F/4 will hinder your landscape work, I personally sit somewhere between F/11 and F/22 as it is.

by all accounts the AF speed is fine, probably a bit slower than the 24-70, which is practically instant, but nothing to worry about. The 14-24 is in a league of it's own, so don't expect the same biblical levels of sharpness, but it's fair to say the 16-35 does very well even by comparison.

As said, having had the 14-24 myself, if I ever get a wide angle lens again, I already have quite the benchmark in mind. The 16-35, from what is currently available, is what I would buy.

Agreed. Though I've not been actively looking for one as such, they are great lenses. I'd recon it would be unlikely to find very many at all on the S/H market. Saying that though, for the price I can imagine them going at S/H, you might as well save that bit extra and get a warranty with it, just for peace of mind?
 
Ian, it seems to go away quite quickly and it's practically gone by 22mm. For shots where it's been a slight issue, it's easily corrected in PS, of course. I forgot to mention the VR works well too; I wasn't expecting to use it much on a lens of this short focal length but it's proved handy a few times :thumbs:
 
Ian, I have the 16-35mm and only live 45mins away from Doncaster. If you wanted to have a play with it, we may be able to sort something out.
