OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

I'd quite like one of those ful view, not for me but the laddie would love the big vf.

There's a horrible second hand shop on the southwards extension of Nicholson St that has had a Fulvue the last few times I've passed by...

Cheers, I'll have a look next time I'm down that way.
Wish I'd known Steveo.....i just sold one!

With out consulting the odd and obsolete camera club? I'm disappointed.... ;-)

If you do, avoid the Ful-Vue Super - it's 620 film.
......unless you pick up a gud un and respool 120 film onto 620 spools ;)...... I may be able to help with a spool if you have need :)

I've got one original 620 film and a modified 120 but I've only ever needed them for a kodak box.

620 roll film is available from here.

I've just ordered myself an oly trip35. Been wanting one for years, but never had opportunity to buy one.
Now to play the waiting game til it arrives

Good choice, all film photographers should have a Trip 35

Nice & I have been tempted to get one for a while. Nostalgia for the funny TV ads probably as much as anything. Remember these?

Great adverts from a distant past, I had forgotten those, thanks for sharing

Down to my parents in Penzance. It will probably piddle it down every day so i'll end up with 1 picture of the cat walking off looking disgusted.

You can use some of that b/w you've got there for piddling it down.........oh wait !

I know, weather can make things kinda awkward, I've just got back from wet Anglesey and spent half my time trying to see a use for the conditions, I mean, rain or sun theres a great picture in there somewhere...right ?
Its not easy if you're prepared for good weather shooting and it turns bad, still....cloudy is portrait weather..:)

ok while not strictly a new toy, my pile of film for my holiday back home in cornwall next week turned up today as did my fuji :)

Were is the 50,you know you cannot go to Cornwall without the 50Asa. :)

i tried using velvia 50 once and it was a lost cause. Couldnt handle exposures at all. The 100 seems a bit more forgiving.

Same here mate, never got to grips with it. I stick to 100 as well.

I wouldn't claim to have nailed Velvia 50 by any means but when it goes right, it makes up for the missed shots. That said, I've only ever shot it through metered cameras so maybe I should shut up and go sit in the corner. :$

Or man up and take a couple of rolls out with the 'blad and a light meter ... :wideyed:

actually the Fuji has, shudder, auto modes. So it could probably handle 50 ok. But i cant see a speck of grain on 100 so im not sure what 50 would offer over it.

Tradition

Just kidding ;) I see it as a challenge - if I can get good results with 50 then anything else should be a breeze. That said, it's been a long time since I shot a roll of either speed, excepting the one I put through the Yash GX and haven't had developed yet :(

When Canon EF meant something slightly different!

Picked up this superb EF, a 28mm FD, 35mm FD and a mint FTb to boot.

Nice bit of kit, Adrian.

I just received a Hoya 2.8 28, C/Y mount. Looks to be in very good condition.

I used to shoot with Kodak 64 and 25, Ektachrome 64 and occasionally Ekta 100!

Does that Hoya 28mm have a somewhat distinctive silver aperture ring? If so my dad's got one of those in K-mount, and it is a lovely sharp lens.

Yes, it does. I've always been partial to Hoya lenses.

I still haven't opened my Mamiya.....just can't my head round where from starting to pull vinyl off....

There is still a Fulvue in the grotty shop, called something like The Real A-B Cave, at around 70 Clerk St. Wasn't allowed to hang round long nough to see a price!

Om1 wood grip, made for me by a flickr member. Really nicely made and makes the camera extra comfortable. I'll let you know how I get on with it as I use it more.

It's made from walnut and wenge which has been oiled and nicely finished. I can't use the self timer (we did discuss the possibility of a cutaway for the lever but didn't bother in the end as I rarely use it)

Cheers

I've never been in that shop and though I have noticed it I've have never had the nerve to go in.

Looks good. I think the only times I have ever used a self timer is to see if the self timer works!

Interesting, does the camera handle better?

Finally visited my sister again last week and she had a couple of my father's cameras for me. They have been hanging around in her farm outbuildings for a decade or so, and are externally in rather bad nick... one of them was a Zeiss Ikon folder. It was in pretty bad nick externally...

Should I get it CLA-d, or run a film through first?

I've had a film in the Ikonta 524/16 for a while, wasted a couple of shot at first, then tried it today a bit more seriously. The first shot worked fine, wound on and then the shutter won't fire, even with a remote release threaded in (which helped it to fire the first time this happened). I think the double exposure protection isn't releasing properly when it's wound on. I found something on 'tnet but it seemed to require wiggling something inside. So I'm guessing the CLA is needed sooner rather than later. Any Zeiss specialist I should consider, or just ask Miles again?

However, I've only "taken" 3 shots, so I'd like to get the film out before sending it off. I realise I need to dive under the duvet at night in a darkened room, but once I've opened it up, will it rewind onto the original spool OK?

It can be wound back, but make sure you get it wound back tightly. Oh and don't forget to mark on the film that it's had three shots taken on it.

I've just checked mine, the source spool isn't on a ratchet so will turn happily in the other direction when turned by hand. Just make sure you wind it goodn' tight, have some tape on hand to seal it up and if you have a 120 canister use that too.

:D .......but was amused at Windsor when a girl put her digi compact on a post near me, stepped back about 3 yards and started smiling and she got Windsor castle in the background....with my camera around my neck you'd think she would have asked me to take the shot

No canister... thinking of tape, alfoil and rubber band...

Good plan! Probably better treat shot 4 as a lens cap shot, in case of misalignment...

Mind you, since I've failed yet again to fall in love with the Autocord, I've nothing I like to put my copious amounts of 120 into. :(
