OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

I figured it was time I had a new project....[emoji23]

The porvair definitely needs to go so I just need to think of a replacement option. Wonder what an acrylic skin SX70 would look like..

I should probably add. This is a holiday camera that I wouldn’t use much here at home (mainly because it’s £18 for 8 shots!). Assuming it actually works, I’m going to clean it up and get some film through it so shouldn’t take up too much time. We go away for a week of sun next month so I’ll hopefully get some good results from it.

Behave man. get some film through it! Ha. I have been using my SX-70 more and love it.

The A1 seems to be missing the hand grip off the front but it can't be bad at that money if it works OK and there's no shutter squeak - oh, and be careful if opening the battery door as they can become very fragile with age, so don't let it spring back against the side of the lens mount box! You should enjoy using the EOS-3, first thing to do would be to re-set the eye controlled focus memory then spend some time calibrating it in both portrait and landscape mode, I find it works very well if set up right. Certainly easier than scrolling around on a modern DSLR to select a focus point. Don't forget to show us your results from them once you've put a film through them... they're all too good to sit on a shelf unused. (y)

You should have some fun with that lot Shane, and it should keep you quiet for a bit just looking at it all let alone using it! :D Once the brighter weather arrives try some rolls of Kodak Ektar 100 colour print film and Fuji Acros 100 black and white print film in that Yashica and see what you think. My Yashica 635s seem to like those films and give nice looking results with it. And don't forget to show us your results with it. (y)

Cheers :)

Yep, Acros is one of my favourite films - so I’ve got a stock in the fridge, along with good old HP5 and some 160 and 400 Portra.

I’ve shot some Ektar before, but only in 35mm - I’ll get some in 120 and see if I like it.

I’ll post some images up as soon as I can.

Ta,
Shane.

None of my cameras sit on a shelf unused. I haven't used more than 4 shots on the EOS 3 so far, I've had the A-1 in my bag since I bought it and have taken maybe 7 shots. I haven't loaded the EOS 1 or the Nikon F-401 that arrived on Thursday I think, and today I bought this T80.

I was surprised by the AF lens, it was faster and quieter than a lot of the early EF lenses. More so because I bought it from an actual, real camera shop and tested it in the fairly low light. I thought it wasn't a bad price at £49.

I see a lot of these 35-70mm AC lenses for sale on eBay but none of the 50mm AC ones, not in the UK at least. Has anyone tried all of the AF lenses for this camera?

I have also just bought a bulk film loader with some HP5 Plus so I may do some short rolls to test the cameras. I did notice when I opened and closed the T80 it seemed to fire off 3 or four shots, it seemed a bit excessive.IMG_20180310_154806.jpgIMG_20180310_171721.jpg

It's a good job you say it works well because I don't think it's got much else going for it; looks wise, I think it must have fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down! ;) Quick Steve, post another photo of that Canon A1 to redress the balance! :D

Same as the T70 and just auto winding on the first frames of the film (does it without a film in).

future design classic

I have the T80 stereo, on a pneumatic tripod head, someday it'll be worth something...

no dis-assemble.....:)

I'm still in the process of putting a test roll through this but I'm reasonably confident that it will be ok. After being tempted by the relentless camera porn on Instagram I splurged on this F2a with 50mm f1.4 AI lens, soft release, Tamrac strap and original ever ready case in excellent condition. The grip came from MW Classics and I can't fault their service, I did phone my order through though. I wasn't sure how I would get on with the size of this beast but I have really enjoyed being out and about with it. With the 50mm f1.4 it balances really well and the Tamrac strap is much comfier than I expected. I was expecting to swap it for an Optech Pro strap but now I think that I'll stick with it.

Got me a Bronica SQ-A. Someone has touched it up with a bit of black Dulux gloss (at least that's what it looks like). TBH they haven't done a bad job but it still looks hand panted in places but hey-ho I guess that's why the price was good :)

And a shot, all seems to be working

Bronicas are seriously under-appreciated cameras; I prefer them to the much vaunted Hasselblad 500-series cameras in most instances.

Enjoy.

A Praktica 'no name' Nova. It is 'no name' because, quite literally, there is no name anywhere on the camera. The only clue is the Ernemann Tower embossed in the leatherette on the back signifying a Pentacon camera. Searching through camera images on Google showed me very similar cameras and then looking at the Praktica-collector.de web site led me to the 'no name' version of the Nova.

Well done Chris, image looks good. I have a Bronica SQAi. Not a fan of square format so mine is rarely used, but they are a hell of a lot lighter than a Mamiya RB!

I bought another bulk film loader for just over £15, the note that came with it said it was loaded with film and had been for 20 years. It shows as being around 25ft, but I don't know what it is. I've made up a 12 exposure roll to test it. Hopefully it will say what film it is on the negatives.

I am putting the film through this Cosina CT-1, which also came today. The camera came with the Pentax 50mm f2.0 lens for £12.50.

The first few frames have been shot at 400ASA, but I've switched to 200 due to its apparent age and the fact I don't know it's true value.IMG_20180319_222340.jpgIMG_20180319_222423.jpg

If the film is 20+ years old, I would be inclined to shoot at 50 ISO - at least a few frames, to give you an idea of the film's current speed. Should still be usable - last year I was given a bulk loader with film that had a Best Before date of 1970 and it is fine if rather slow and grainy.

The CT-1 is an excellent camera aka Nikon FM10, Canon T60 and several other marques.
