OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

In round figures for a common prime lens, 135mm if you're looking for the same angle of view on 35mm as on 5x4. Otherwise it's 420mm, give or take.

Is that camera ”left handed” with the focusing on the right and film advance on the left? I’ve not seen that before if that’s the case.

Have fun with it though and don’t forget to share your results. (y)
The focusing is a see-saw of the two tabs on either side of the body. I quite like the movement, feels like you can be very precise with it and the film advance is on the right.
The glass or mirror of the viewfinder could do with a clean. Lots of black specs on it.

Got some 120 on the way! 12 shots per roll makes me feel very apprehensive to actually fire the shutter!

When you try large format, 12 will seem like machine gunning!

I've just had 20th Century Camera reels delivered, one each for the film sizes 9x12, 5x4, 5x7 and 10x8.

Plus two new to me film holders for 13x18 (13x18 sheets fit the 5x7 reel).

My newest old camera - and my most expensive so far - is a Nikon F2 Photomic from the early 70s. It came from Japan and I neglected to consider import duty and VAT so it cost me just over £50 more than I intended.

It is very nicely designed and made - and no foam light seals to go bad. My only complaint (and it is a very minor one) is that someone has repainted the corners where the black had worn through to reveal the brass. I would prefer the brass to the thick paint.JPEG_20201026_175656_7048442608033841791.jpgJPEG_20201026_175759_4018848603457436836.jpg

A Zenzanon 50mm f/2.8 MC arrived today. It was advertised as being in slightly battered condition and with some very light haze in the centre of the lens. The condition looks fine to me - some wear, but nothing I'd baulk at, and I can't see any sign of the haze. As it cost me just over £50 I'm quite happy. Now to test it out (if it stops raining!).

I've realised that I now have all the bits to make two complete ETRSi outfits. Mine originally came with a metered prism finder and speed-winder. I then picked up a second body - mostly because it had a WLF and winding crank (which cost more than gold it seems!) for a price much less than I would have paid for them seperately. After getting a second back recently, and now this lens, I now have two full camera setups.

Not arrived yet, and traveling across an ocean and then a continent so not expecting it any time soon, but I've a 210mm Schneider Symmar-S on its way from West Yorkshire Cameras to compliment my Intrepid's 90mm. Maybe one more LF lens to acquire at some point, then on to the enlarger. Then the 5x7... Then...

I personally prefer 210mm on 5x4 to the ‘standard norm ´ of 150mm tbh.

For portraits it’s a perfect focal length and imo works very well for most landscapes too.

Not strictly new, but new to being useful. I got a Canham 5x7 to 5x4 reducing back some time ago that wasn't actually of any use to me. So specialised in fact that even WYC didn't want to buy it. I was just on the verge of using it as a source of a spare Canham 5x4 ground glass, when I decided to try it again on the new Gandolfi. It fits, and is a very close colour match. So another 5x4 camera...

This is @Mr Badger 's fault.

What happens when you have an EOS-3 that has some E-100 in it and you want the benefit of the IS on the Canon lenses but don't have a spare EF mount camera and want to shoot some B&W...?
Yeah...

But it's so shiny! (and heavy)

Hey, don't blame me! But it is rather nice! ;) Has it got the PB2 power grip/booster too? Also, was that a typo or do you have an EOS-3 now, as well as the EOS 30?

Typo. Just the 30. I decided to skip the 3.

This camera body actually arrived last year, but it's taken me until now to find time to change the light seals so I can use it. A test film is off to the lab today, so fingers crossed that I've done it right! The strap was a new eBay purchase, for the princely sum of £3.93 including postage. It doesn't seem bad quality either, so I'm quite chuffed for what I paid considering it's brand new. I imagine @Andysnap will like the strap (if not the Canon camera!), as I know he likes to sport a bit of stylish tweed from time to time. :)

I have one of those straps on my 35 RC. They're nice.

I was a bit worried that it might make me want to grow a beard, wear a lumberjack shirt and start craving boutique fresh-ground coffees, but so far I've not noticed any hipster side effects! ;)

Give it time. I now find it impossible to use my 35 RC without wearing a pair of skinny jeans, waistcoat, and a flat cap.

So that's why I've grown a goatee, wear lumberjack shirts and drink boutique coffee.
I thought it was just a phase.

Ah you know me so well...I have that exact strap, although maybe a slightly darker colour on my Nikon F801. They are very good quality.

Thought you'd either have one or like one, hence the namecheck! Mine looks darker than it does in that photo (looks like a geography teacher's jacket!) so most likely from the same batch.

Although more of a point and shoot you can use it for manual as well.....check the exposure reading as I've had two AV1s that were out and actually threw a black one away because it was two stops out (well they were going for peanuts at the time), anyway the one I kept decided to do something about it .....well the exposure problem cured itself by just loosening the top cover o_O must be a dry joint somewhere and the camera exposure now is very accurate and use it for testing other cameras.

The AV1 doesn't have a full manual setting, it always choses the shutter speed automatically, the only exception to this being the 1/60 flash sync speed setting. There's a 1.5 stop back light compensation button, but apart from that the camera remains fully in charge. I've already tested the meter and found it was 1 stop out when compared against my freshly serviced A1, but that was easily sorted by setting it to 400 ISO to shoot a 200 ISO film. :)

...but you can juggle aperture to shutter speed for what is most important to you as you get shutter speed info in the viewfinder.

Most people shoot aperture priority these days anyway. ;)

Well this arrived from France a full nine days ago and for various reasons I'd only had chance to check nothing had broken in the post (it hadn't thanks to the packing the seller who resides in this forum - hmnn I wonder who that could be?;) ).

Anyway finally got it out to have a proper look. V, v impressed!IMG_20201106_191135959.jpg

Put it this way I was pleased the tip was pre-lockdown open to recycle all the packaging. Every piece of cardboard etc was required as Parcel Force "delivered" the camera and associated items by throwing it over a 6 foot gate onto paving slabs.

If you want it back stick a couple of noughts on your selling price:)

Clearly a sign that you have no wish to part with it then:LOL:.....Cool (y)

I’ve looked at that strap on eBay several times but never bought it as assumed it would be cheap and nasty. Maybe it’s just cheap...!
