Official Talk Leica thread

Hi, ... (SONY A7ii - LEITZ Elmar-M 4/135 f 4 ; crop) :

(Using the Elmar-M on the SONY-A7ii made the results a little more comparable. But at f 4 - I used f2,8 on the Elmarit - the lower shutter speed may lead to some motion blur.

I shall try my best manual 135mm lens, the ZEISS Apo-Sonnar 2/135. The results I may not show here in this thread ... )

Hi, the ZEISS Apo-Sonnar on the SONY A7ii, posting #10.141 (scroll down) :

The Apo-Sonnar is my best 135mm lens. In real life, performance differences with the LEITZ Elmarit-R are mainly due to "natural" factors, subject variation,
focusing, handling, however.

But the Apo-Sonnar is even heavier than the Elmarit. So, I have never taken it out for a walk.

The Elmarit is very cheap used. I would recommend it to M users with an M with live view ...

Leica Guys!

Sorry to butt in but I was surfing and came across James Popsys and the Leica Q3 43. I didn't know this existed. The relevance for me is that a 40mm f2.5 has been on one of my Sony cameras since I got it and the camera that got me into photography was my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic 36 which has a 43mm (f11) lens.

I can see the appeal of the Q3 and this later version. Sorry for the intrusion :D I just got a bit excited :D

Any happy owners of the 43 here? Anyone with one on their radar?

I suppose anyone interested has seen this but just in case they haven't...

It's been on my radar since I got my Q2r and I really, really like it. I still prefer M but the longer focal length of the 43 would really suit me, I think. I don't have the funds for one and if I did, I would be torn between this and getting another GFX, I think.

Hi, looking back ... Old (1996) and newer (2017) pics of Porto/Port.

LEICA M6 - Summicron 2/35 (slidescan 2005) :

SONY A7R2 - ZEISS Loxia 2,8/21 :

No ceteris paribus, of course. In 2017, I forgot the sun at home. The M6 pics have no embarrassing IQ I would say. But higher res and IS of the SONY seem to make a slight difference.

I hope, you find my look back interesting and do not mind the cross-system comparison... ---

Hi, ... (M9 - VOIGTLÄNDER Color-Skopar 4/21 f 8) :

The sun was in the top left corner. Flaring can happen in a situation like this. There are other 21mm Voigtländer lenses, which might perform better:

My old Skopar, which is still offered, is a nice compact lens.

If I want to use a faster, but heavier, lens I can use my LEICA Elmarit 2,8/21 asph. (which also flares) ...

Are thee any zooms for Lecia M?
I read somewhere that people also adopt other lens to M, like old Nikon lens.

Well, there is a lens with 3 FLs :

Yes, I've that one, I was just wondering if there was any proper zoom, but probably not, unless for SL.

I'll wait till Leica make M with IBIS, maybe will buy it then, for my 70th birthday if I'll be still alive :)

Hi, IBIS, high res, high ISO performance would be lovely for an M.

Apart from IBIS, the M11 has the other two already, I suppose.

IBIS could be delivered, perhaps with a little help from PANASONIC.
