@justpix : 1)so the difference is only for pixel peepers then. Was thinking there might be a nicer feel or better quality or something to upgrade. But for some reason I just don't feel it.
2)These lenses cover most of what I like, with the only niggle on the 15mm being the shade/chromatic appearing on the edges.
3)Any idea if there is an 18 or is it just the 21mm... Wondering if I might use that more, although the 15mm is very light and thin...
I liked the colour shot too, but felt a black and white might look good. Still in two minds
Hi,
ad1) People like me (hobbyists) might not see differences, at least not, if there is no A - B comparison. I walk around with one lens mounted, and after a few weeks
with another one of the same focal length. Even with the same subjects, there is too much variation.
A professional photographer with trained eyes will see more.
Leica lenses are very good. When there is a new model, it will show improvements. But I think it is the same with cars. A 400 hp car offers more performance than one with 300 hp.
However, in normal traffic the difference might not be experienced ...
ad2) I do not have colour shift with my
15mm Voigtländer V3, using the 2,8/21 lens profile in the M9.
( I have
2 15mm Voigtländer.
V1, E39 Schraubgewinde, shows slight pink corners at times (gray sky). I do not use it with the M9. The other 15mm is
V3,
the latest, current version. This behaves faultlessly on the M9.)
ad3) I have the ZEISS Distagon 4/18, too, which is good lens, however bulkier than the 15mm Voigtländer.
If one does not have a favourite uwa length, one could choose the Tri-Elmar 16-18-21. However, this is used at least 3000 €. (I do not have it, because I have 15, 18 and 21mm
already covered.)
My favourite all-round focal length when visiting cities is 21mm.
UWAs have their properties, distorting buildings (

The first time I was in Düsseldorf, I had a 35mm mounted, which was not wide enough for architecture. So, a week later I went again with a 12mm lens.
In future, I might take a 21mm, and hold the camera vertically ...
