Yes
Just watched the first of the new Sherlock Holmes series on BBC1.

I thought it was pretty good. Anyone else see it and have opinions?

Yeah, watched it too - it suffered a little bit from having to introduce everyone, but it looks very promising. Will definitely be watching next week.

Saw the last 15 minutes, was really good. Already looking forward to the next one.

Bloody brilliant!

Only caught one trailer and thought I would give it a go. Flipping excellent!

I enjoyed it. Setting it in the modern day was a nice twist on the original.

I recorded it so not yet seen it, but on my guide it said "New Series 1/3" I don't class 3 episodes a series.

By the looks of the production values this is a special mini series that will go larger if demand/direction suit!

They chucked away the £800K pilot.

I really liked it.
Only a couple of niggles for me. The major one was how long they took to realise about the occupation of the killer.

Will watch it next week.

As Cuchulainn says I think it suffered a bit from having to introduce everyone, that made the first episode a bit cluttered but it has great potential, some nice one liners and a decent plotline.

Initially had doubts, but soon found it very enthralling.
Intend to watch it again.

Some amusing moments, I thought the re-title to 'A Study in Pink' was funny.

Also the characters that kept assuming they were gay, always an unspoken item previously.

I found the sound poor, maybe that's more a sign of my advancing age than the production !

Just found out that the next episode is written by Bob Thompson - an awesome writer from Herts and from our theatre group :)

Be interesting to hear what you all think off the next one!

It was either that or Coast. I cant believe I chose Sherlock over Coast, and it was the best programme I have seen in ages.

i agree it was brilliant. i missed it but then used iplayer to watch it. was well impressed :D:D

I recorded Coast, Dr Alice Roberts stuck in the mud was the highlight of the show. :)

Watched it last night and was not too impressed. No idea if that was because of the change of writer, but there seemed to be a lot less examples of sh demonstrating his deductive powers as there was in episode one (which I thought to be very good).

Don't understand the idea of using separate writers.

We'll see what next Sunday's episode brings.

Agreed, it seemed less about SH detecting than it was about Dr Watson and a bit of slapstick. Still watchable but I'd hoped for more now that the characters have been introduced and there's more time for the storyline.

Another nod in agreement from me. Didn't enjoy it as much as the first episode.

Hmm. Sadly I am with you guys in not enjoying it as much. Thought the deduction level was quite good - if they maintained levels from the first episode it would become very tiresome quickly.

I definitely did like that they developed Watsons character.

I thought it lacked some of the production values from the first? Ie less stylish camera movements etc?

TV guide says tonight's episode is the end of the series!
3 episodes - must be the shortest series on record!

Was subloodyperb!!! LOVED the last one.

Wish it was running for longer - here's hoping it was a 'testing the water' type mini series!

Awesome. Go watch.

Apparently American TV bosses have seen it and want more so would appear to be a case of when, not if.

Well just watched the last one and thoroughly enjoyed it. Big imrpovement on episode 2.

Enjoyed all 3, it looks like its a massive hit so far. Anyone know when they bringing anymore out?

Can't help but think it will probably end there - can't imagine Martin Freeman would spend longer on the project when he already has broken into films?

Fingers crossed though - it was superb! :D

I thought that last night's episode was really good.

Cracking series and only caught the first one by 'flicking through' the channels trying to find something to watch...glad I flicked otherwise I would have missed them :D

The last episode was definitely an improvement on the second but I think there's still too much excess baggage. Unless they are intending making the roles of Watsons love interest, Lestrads' female sidekick and the labtech/doctor that moons over Sherlock into bigger better parts in any future episodes then they really didn't bring anything to the show at all.
Moriarty was a let down, nasty and spiteful seeming but not at all mysterious and dangerous.

CONFIRMED BY THE BBC - SHERLOCK WILL RETURN!
