Yes
Ok at this time of year we tend to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget to enjoy. So I think we should remember the little things in life that make us happy. Can be holiday related but realy doesn't matter.

I'll start:

The first time you light up the Christmas tree after it is all decorated!

My sons:

Driving through big puddles and making waves on the car.

What is yours?

Nice idea for a thread Renee :)

For me it's that feeling when you wake up in a panic coz the alarm didn't go off and you're late for work.......then you realise it's saturday :) :) :)

Kicking back in shorts and tee shirt with a cold beer on a warm summers evening after hard days graft.

My youngest sons excitement and innocence on the run up to Christmas.

Knowing when you've captured that picture.

Hot buttered toast with Marmite. :D

Hitting a good shot on the golf course (a very rare event!)

A gentleman's measure of Drambuie with ice.

Great thread Renee - well needed after all the doom & gloom ;)

For me (not in any particular order):

Snuggling up to my boyfriend first thing in a morning
The smell of the earth when it rains for the first time in ages
Seeing my neice and nephew and seeing how happy they are to see me too :)
Sharing happy times and laughter with friends
sunshine and long balmy nights

I was saying exactly the same thing to someone the other day. There's no better feeling than waking up of a morning, and THEN realising it's Saturday :D (And I don't work...lol)

For me though, at this time of year, it has to be when its a bit windy and rainy, and youve just come in from outside, got warm, with a hot cup of tea. It's dark and cold outside, and I'm snug and warm in tshirt and shorts.

In no particular order then ... :naughty:

Anything ... so long as it's Green ... :D

The smell of Jill on her pillow after she has gotten up and I roll over ... :love: ... and wait for ...

The first Coffee of the morning ... Mmmmm ... (y)

MARMITE ... with everything ... :geek:

The sight, sound, feel & smell of Jill ... when she arrives home from her day at the office ... still makes flutterbies in my tummy ... and gives me a warm smiley glow all over ... :love:

Anything ... Green ... but I don't want to be too predictable now ... do I ... ?

Oh and You Lot ... the greatest bunch of guys and gals one could never meet ... :D

Superb idea for a thread Renee ... :clap:

... on these dark and dismal ... Hah Bumhug daze ... :razz:

:p

You missed out the first Green leaves of the year

and my list.....

watching my healthy / happy kids bickering ,

The smell of freshly baked scones,

my wife in the bath , covered in bubbles,

Snow,

when it starts to get visibly lighter at nights,

chopping logs with a chainsaw / hitting things with a hammer after a hard day.

A nice pint of beer while having a bonfire

feeling happy while reading this thread :hug:

That feeling of anticipation every time a delivery van turns up at my work, wondering if it's my new Manfrotto 190 Pro and 490RC4 Ball head :woot:

When I dunk a rich tea biscuit in my coffee. :)

When I receive the premium bond certificates through the post. :D

I didn't put all of mine in so here are a few more.

Hearing my son say "I love you"
Snuggling up by a roaring fire with a good book
watching my husband and son play trains
The smell the air gets right before the first snow of the season
Hearing the awe in my sons voice when he discovers something new

Picking my daughter up to bring her home from Uni at Xmas;
Listening to my sons new songs and liking them;
Cuddling up in bed with my wife just before I have to get up and go to work;
Setting out on a long drive to somewhere nice;
That first glass of red on a Friday night :D

From a Military perspective whilst recently in Afghanistan:

Flying at 50 feet above the desert/through the mountains in a Chinook/Hercules C-130 with a pilot who loves his/her job;
A cold can of fizzy dropped in your lap on a patrol/operation by the CQMS;
A full night's sleep somewhere comfortable;
Clean clothes;
Hot showers;
Fresh fruit;
Incoming Fire that's hopelessly innacurate;
Outgoing Fire that's deadly accurate;
Targets that Fall When Hit;
Finding a new Green Bean Coffee kiosk at Kandahar Airfield when you get back off a job at a Platoon House;
Getting to the farthest distant outpost on earth to find that all of the bottled water is being stored in a refrigeraton unit left by the US Army and is ICE COLD.

I'm always really happy when I get my chicken tikka madras :) :)

.....oh wow, what a fab thread....so moving too...Ven is so romantic....

my feel good moments:-

waking up to see Barry looking at me, waiting for me to wake up...and I smile

the anticipation of seeing my granddaughters....it never disappoints me, they hop about til they can get hold of me and love me...simply magic!

the smell of warm bread baking

Barry's warm neck....mmmmm... :love:

singing songs loudly in the car together, our favorite is the soundtrack from 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou?'

a reassuring touch....

thinking about how good our lives will be once we are both have our divorces in place and the settlements agreed...how we long to get on with our lives without worry and fear...

being creative...making something that pleases me, be it a greetings card, a knitted/crocheted item, or even an arty photo...I always feel better when I create something :)

I get comfort and feel good moments all day long even though life is hard at times, I'm lucky....

The smell of Jill on her pillow after she has gotten up and I roll over ... :love: .

I like that too (but with my wife of course, not Jill). When she's gotten up, I love rolling over onto her pillow and falling back to sleep.

And also when I get in bed late at night, and she's already there, fast asleep, all toasty and warm for me to snuggle up to. :love:

If I was being in a really soppy and thoughtful mood, I would say the best feeling in the world is knowing that even on my worst days with depression, I know I can count on my wife and kids to still love me, and make me smile.

Ahhh your the best husband ever. My husband should read this thread!

The smell of the lawn when its been cut in summer.

Summer evenings, with the sound of kids playing out.

Thinking youve taken a whole set of rubbish photos, and finding a really good one!

A kitten purring on your lap.

The smell of a very young puppy (it disappears after a few weeks)

Sunday evening in the winter, curtains closed, sandwiches, cake and cup of tea, and Heartbeat. Just reminds me of when the boys were little and loved it.

When the whole family is ignoring me, I'm feeling down, and I come on here and you lot are still here, full of fun and friendly as ever. Thanks (y)

hmmmm mine would have to be

Curling up with matt after a hard night shift in a morning when he is all toasty and warm and half asleep :love:

Curling up on the sofa and watching a film (better with matt :love: )

looking after someone really poorly at work and by the end of the shift seeing an improvement, really feels like a worthwhile job then and that I made a difference

smell of freshly baked bread

the nice comments from people on here after a bad day at work (and sometimes they are many)

Well youve all listed a lot of mine but here goes anyway ....

The smell of the earth after a downpour, & the smell of a loved one after theyve been caught in a downpour.

Hearing the laughter from my son & his girlfriend.

That first morning cuppa.

Neighbours cat ...waiting on the doorstep for me to come home.

Seeing the first spring lambs.

Emails from friends that are far away.

The first time you 'connect' with someone and both realise it.

Closing the door to the mad world outside and sitting down with my friends at TPF, a nice cuppa, and a bar of Green & Blacks. :love:

Ok, here's mine:
Having my eldest son come home from uni for the weekend, as a surprise
Having my youngest son ask my opinion on a new song he has written
When hubby gives me a hug for no special reason
The smell of new mown grass
My garden flowering in early spring
You lot!
Green & Blacks dark choc icecream

OMG this is soooo difficult..

Arriving home after being away all week at work - absence really does makes the heart grow fonder
3.gif

Getting a letter in the post (not junk mail/bills)
Bob washing my back
The cat asleep on my lap, the dogs by my feet
Riding my horse on Ilkley Moor
My first coffee of the day
Seeing the first daffodils of Spring

............

I've never tried Green and Blacks chocolate, is it really as nice as they say?

A heartening thread. Nice to read as I sit here with a night cap.

Right then, in no particular order;

My son joining me at camera club tonight.
My kids anytime.
My wifes smile
Flying
Mountains
The Highlands of Scotland
Breathing

G'night :wave:

Well, it does have to be said!

When I awake and see Marianne asleep, I know as soon as she moves, she looks at me and smiles. It gets me every time .....

Sitting on a village green with a long cool drink, watching a game of Village Cricket.

Children laughing

That unexpected touch from that very special photographer.... (you know who)

The coolness of being in a quiet forest on a hot summer's day.

I must admit the smell on the pillow thing gets me as well.....

This place is cool with this cosmopolitan opinions and friendly people...

There is plenty more..... but, it's late. I need a snuggle honey! XX

I've never tried Green and Blacks chocolate......

Me neither, I've never even heard of it, and I love dark chocolate :love:

/goes off to google and enters "Green and Blacks".....
