STREETS!

Briony,

I know that you're trying to improve your pet photography too, so why not try to incorporate that into your 52?
If you're stuck for inspiration have a look at Leanne (Shorty)'s 52 from last year. She used pet shots for a lot of the themes and you can really see how they develop over the course of the year.

As for this week, I can think of a few ideas off the top of my head :

No matter how rural your location is you must have a road, track or something  leading to the house and that can justifiably be used as a street for the purpose of the 52. How about a shot of the dog sat in the middle of a deserted track?

Dog posed with Monopoly board; or maps; or newspapers (Fleet Street)

Dog looking longingly at a tin of Quality Street

Street-wise - OK I know you're in a rural location, but we can pretend you have a bust street outside and it wouldn't be wise to take the dog out without its lead. So how about dog waiting for walk by front door and collar and lead somehow incorporated into the foreground?

. . . these are just off the top of my head, and I'm sure if you give it some thought you can come up with some more imaginative ideas.

Its probably not inspiring for the OP but I did some street photography in Windsor back in the summer and came up with a few that I enjoyed:

They have a piece of street sculpture that has a nice convex(?) lens in it!

and a bit of long exposure with the camera resting on a planter due to no tripod!

I must also admit I went out this afternoon in my local town centre and tried a bit of street photography but the light was going fast and absolutely nothing caught my eye, unlike Windsor I also felt very self conscious and bottled it a bit too...., don't know why but I find this a very hard thing to do also.

I'm actually looking forward to this weeks theme. Must admit most of my initial ideas require me to be somewhere other than sleepy Buckingham. I popped into town today and spent more time explaining to people what I was doing rather than taking photos. Thing is, living here pretty much every other person on the street knows me !!

Anyway, Briony there have been some really good suggestions posted so won't reitterate them but what I will repeat is the suggestion to take a look at DarkStars Flikr. There's some awesome stuff to give you the nudge you need.
If push comes to shove I'm not sa million miles from Oxford so I could tag along with you one afternoon - safety in numbers and all that :D
