Wild Swans! …post them in this communal thread.

Just a natural talent, apparently I can be quite offensive ;)

To be on the safer side, maybe I should call you SIR! ;-)

That, Robert, is a male in its prime…
a tad soft because of too little DoF
but beautiful bird!

I have a headache..

…can almost read the discomfort
in the eyes of the FG swan!
…can almost guess compassion
in the eyes of the BG swan!

I like how everyone is capturing these Swans without the whites blowing out.

I don't believe you, I think your cheating!
I always believed the Swan See was deeper! ;-)

Nah, can't see its knob...

It is a Swan, see!

I get it being a Jack ;), but your bird looks like an Egret? if so, didn't know they are down on the bay, never seen them there before and we go Limeslade regular.

I can't emulate the fantastic photos on this thread but I'd like to contribute!

What does this mean here, Simon?

Well - the picture caption was a pun really - "It's a Swan, See!" - the pun being it was taken in Swansea

The "I get it, Being a Jack"... well... according to a quick google...

people born in the town/city (and by extension the fans of Swansea City football club) are known as “Swansea Jacks”. There are two possible origins for this nickname. The first is a reference to the high reputation of local seamen (“Jack Tars”) in the early nineteenth century. There was also a famous black retriever called Swansea Jack who rescued no fewer than 27 people from drowning in the River Tawe and Swansea Docks during the 1930s.

Morning Daniel,

People born in Swansea are called Jacks (nickname) like London people are Cockneys, people from Newcastle are Geordies etc, maybe a UK thing.........The name Jack came about after a Black Retriever dog called Jack who rescued people from the dock areas of the city and become bit of a legend. Please see links.

Being a Labrador fan myself, I like that story/legend very much.

…thank you Simon!

Makes me feel even luckier then :) There were 2 or, possibly a third further along the shore, but it was probably one of the pair.

Cool! I don't see these yellow faces at the marsh!
Do you know their name, Steve?

I think you could recover some highlights here!

Resident Bewicks swan at WWT Barnes. I quite like the look that it has, wouldn't want to lose that feel....
