I know which I'll be keeping - 500mm is ok at the long end,but wildlife photographer like me need the reach of a 600mm :)

I had bought them long before that. Seen it being discussed on Facebook. While they discussed I bought. 2 of them already sold.
WIll you be able to claim cashback on them all as I thought you can only get CB on a limited number?

On some of them I will I did them as as separate orders in other peoples names my wife, my mum etc. 2 I had to buy in my own name and I won’t get cash back on those as I have already maxed out the cash back for this year in my own name.

lalalalalalala, oh Sony came out on top. Excellent article, well worth the read. :D

I keep looking at the new 35 and 50mm lenses but they are bigger than the ones I have and I don't get a lot of chances to go anywhere to use them these days so... buy or don't bother... over and over again :D

Voigtlander 35mm f2 APO Lanthar review...

"When a lens comes with a long list of assets and is practically devoid of flaws we always grant it our 'Editors' Choice' badge. We feel the Voigtlander fully deserves it."

I wish I hadn't been forced to sell my Voigtlanders (and Loxia). They were lovely lenses, both to handle, and in IQ. But my eyesight varies enough during the day, and day-by-day, enough to make manual focussing unreliable. It's all down to the onset of cataracts, apparently, but they're nowhere near bad enough to being recommended for surgery.

Oh dear. Sorry to read that.

I use my Voigtlanders more than anything else especially the 35mm f1.4. I tend to keep the Voigtlanders and film era lenses for the times I can take my time and the AF lenses for the times I want to be quicker.

I do keep looking at the Voigtlander 35mm f2 and 50mm f1.2 but don't think I can justify the cost of another unless I sell one of the ones I have.

I'm very rarely a black & white person but these look great imo (y)

I've got a few things sorted on the Escort now (after debating a sale!) just in time for this weekend's sh!t weather forecast :ROFLMAO:
Thanks :)

After years of Nikons where you could leave the camera on and the battery would still have charge a month later if it was in the bag I now forget to turn off the Sony's from time to time. The camera will drain the battery in short order and it also gets hot if it is in a bag as it is presumably trying to focus. Pre AF is turned off and the camera is set to go to sleep in a minute of no activity. Surely it is capable of going to sleep and waiting for a button press to make it wake up but I can't see a setting

mine does go to sleep and it doesn't drain much battery. I have left it on in the bag few times in the past without much consequence.

Mine holds charge great when switched off. I'm almost always in AF-C as well so not sure if it could be that?

Actually after further experimentation it needed IR Remote to be off and to be in Airplane mode. Working perfectly now
That's odd, mine doesn't need to be in airplane mode

The A7C just doesn't seem to use any power, off or on. The A7R2, during the short period I had it, ate batteries faster than I could eat pork pies. Even off. On both new and old batteries. And it was a brand-new camera.

Hadn’t realised you’d parted with the R2. What prompted that decision ?

Partly batteries, partly the focussing, as even for landscapes I’ve got used to using AFC with flexible spot for “focus and recompose”. And strange though it seems I find the viewfinder on the A7C suits me more. Yes, it’s smaller, but it’s also clearer. Also the hump gets in the way in a small bag.

I can't seem to stop messing around with things, I've taken the Samyang 135mm f2 that I'm using for astrophotography and stuck a Sony 1.4x TC on it just to see if it would work.
Unknown (as yet, will ask my gardening wife) blue flower in the garden. Samyang 135mm f2 @f4.5, 1/125th ISO400, A9,Sony 1.4x TC.

Delphinium?

Cracking shot by the way. That lens appears to be a belter.
