Thanks Stephen you could say my head is battered as I have smoked all my life, and then get told I have skin cancer that has spread is a hard one to handle.
The surgeon is pretty positive for Thursday though.

Very much hope the op is successful Dave, and you get full recovery and remission.
 
Had a quick play with the 24-70 GMII.

Good points:

- A.F is ridiculously quick
- Eye A.F is the best I have seen on a lens so far, probably because of the fast a.f speed
- I.Q is good, what you would expect for an oem 24-70 f/2.8
- I like the aperture lock button, wish the rest of the G.M lenses had this.
- It is lightweight.

Bad points

- It doesn't feel like a premium lens, build quality is okay but it doesn't feel as well made as say the old Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 I once had. I assume this was because they wanted to keep it light.
- While it is small and light weight compared to the newer mirrorless 24-70's it still seems a bit big and bulky, the filter thread is big.


I probably won't use it that much, will probably get more use than the Tamron 28-75 it is replacing just because it can do 24mm.

Thanks everyone got my forms in the post that I have to fill out, have to come back in a taxi for safety reasons. In in the morning then back home later the same evening. I will not rush to sell anything yet though as I do love Sony so maybe use both side by side.

I think it would be wise to hold on to everything for now and see how your recovery goes.

You can always sell on later on if you think light weight kit might be the best option for you.
 
A wee wander down Porty and with it being summer solstice there was lots going on. Went down with a low angle shot of the dog with a mirror like sea in my mind but the light wasn't there to light up her eyes. Still a couple of decent ones but nothing special. So many other things to shoot though

Thanks to recommendation on here, I have the SEL35 F18F. It is a great lens & I am very pleased with it. Now I'm looking for a wider lens around 20mm give or take a little, with f/1.8 or lower. What options are there, Sony, Sigma, Tamron etc?

There's the Sony FE 20mm f1.8 which is IMO an excellent lens.

Great news that the OP went well Dave. Sounds a painful situation to be in and well worth following doctors orders. Hope you get good news in your results.

I was gutted that she would not let me watch it being done, but glad it's out now.

Just a appreciation post ;) You can crop the s**t out of the photos with right glass. Was thinking about trading it for a1 but decided to keep it as a spare body. I love this camera!

I'm glad you're liking it :D The close focusing is imo a big plus point for this lens.
