You really should start a thread in teh projects section- "anonymous children"
JK, I get why you post what you post. But seriously some of the faceless child shots are great.
That AF motor lol, optically it was ok. Lots of hit and miss QC.
Yeah, the optics were okay but the build... Mine alsoalso a grabby zoom ring that sticks occasionally. It was just a backup lens from ages ago. Surprised the old Canon 35mm f2 works as well, the only lens I have that flat refuses to work at all is the non Art Sigma 50mm F1.4.

I liked that 'little' lens. Got some great shots with it.
Twist - did you get the 50 and 85? how is the 85? im super tempted
Nope, I have the FE 85 1.8 which Im very happy with, its a really amazing lens.
I knew I wouldn't get the 85 ART when it was first released in DSLR mount, to big and heavy for me.
and slow AF![]()
Did you consider the Batis?Nope, I have the FE 85 1.8 which Im very happy with, its a really amazing lens.

hmmm ... I have the 85 FE 1.8 myself ... but I find myself wanting a 1.4 lens for those situations where i want some arty bokeh. I do have the samyang 35mm 1.4 which I got in a bundle recently with an A7, seems nice ... but I have 35 covered on 2470gm and 1635gm already... so 85 1.4 seems like the sweet spot. The GM is tempting but the AF is so slow and had a bad experience with one where the AF motor was going and would jam and make the most awful screeching noise - has put me off the lens completely, sadly.

I don't find the GM too bad, but I have only compared it to the Batis 85mm f1.8Probably not as slow as the GM.
Cheers, there's a used Batis in Classifieds and I was pondering!Nope, at the time I had the choice between both but have IBIS and love the function button on the FE, samples show very little difference so I saved a few quid.

Any sign of the CA talked about?
View attachment 127530 Both lenses razor sharp ! The 85 is an absolute beast, could imagine it not being the easiest lens to lug about all day
Sharpness and autofocus accuracy is insane. This is how these lenses are meant to perform. No tuning needed
It is indeed very good, many thanks for posting the image.
The FEBatis or FE? Ive not tested the Batis but its a great lens from what Ive seen.
ah, right. Thanks for the link. Its not been released yet mate. Ask Jonney to take one with the MC11, its the same size.

actually the opposite. Sony lenses hold their value better than canon lenses as there are few of them.
ah, right. Thanks for the link.
It just struck me that the money I spend on some MF lenses would buy an Art but the bulk of these lenses does put me off.
I hovered over spending a little over £900 yesterday and today but have held off for now.
Does it focus as good as the A9?I have to agree, I too am very impressed when you consider its a £1999 body vs competitors.![]()
You didn't catch the joke! I was praising how this thread is more clued up and more up date then everyone else.no I am talking about the tamron 28-75mm.
I am not sure why Jonney felt the need to bring sigma ART lenses in to it!!
However, the Batis for sale works out about £150 more than a new FE 85mm 1.8 so I still have to decide if it's worth the extraNo problem![]()
