You had a paper bag? You were lucky, all we had was a used Uncle Joe’s Mintball wrapper. And we didn’t have a road, just a sheep trod.

Aye lad, an yer tell t' youngsters o' terday that an they won't believe yer.

I sometimes say to my wife "I am a poor man. I shouldn't have a nice car and I shouldn't have this or that. This isn't right". It's REALLY hard to stop thinking and acting poor when it's how you grew up and had to manage most of your life.
 
Both me and Mrs WW are trying to get out of the penny pinching mindset but your upbringing and conditioning are hard to get away from. We'll probably die with stuffed bank accounts.

I'm sure we won't be wealthy in the end, but want to pass on what we can to our son and grandson. If we had no offspring it would change our outlook a little.

Well, we are coming closer to the end than we would like to admit to and intend to leave with a zero balance. One things for sure - the kids aren’t getting any. They both earn far more (through their own efforts) than we could ever dream of. There’s no pockets in shrouds! ;)

I always wanted children but I never had a gf who did. Mrs WW hates them. We could maybe adopt Anand and give him a good life but Mrs WW is doing a martial arts course so I wouldn't advice anyone to move in now as she does like to practice at home.

I can't really suggest a bag but my advice is to think about how and where you're going to use it. I tend to use mine at the seaside and countryside and I'll go out in any weather so the bag is likely to get wet and sandy and muddy so my Billingham's are FibreNyte, I think that's what they call it, it's tough and you can clean it. I like the look of the Wotancraft leather ones and I got someone to make me a leather bag out of old leather jackets but I'm frightened to use it in the countryside and at the coast.

Where and how you want to use it might help you whittle down the list of possibles.
 
I really like my Manfrotto Advanced Hybrid Backpack, but the A7V is lost in it. It does have a small external bottle holder if using it in backpack form,. If there was something similar but with independent compartments inside that were sealed from each other I'd be interested.
 
Osprey Kamber for the sunrise and sunset, big hikes, with all the gear!

A Crumpler messenger which has to be about 20 years old if I'm taking the A7Riii or Yashica Mat 124g.

The smaller £20 Amazon wax messenger bag if I'm just out and about and need to carry more than just the X100f (drink, keys, snack, etc) or I'm taking the QL17 along with it.

I have owned a Billingham, Hadley I think but its size doesn’t conform to any current Hadley, for at least 30 years, bought from Jacobs in Leeds one lunch break. It will last forever, but sometimes it’s just too large for one camera and lens.

One advantage to long term life with a Billingham Bag is that they will repair them. I wore through (after nearly 10 years) part of my Fibrenyte bag (I traced the culprit to a jeans rivets/studs which were against the bag when I wore it crossover style. It was still waterproof but I'd worn away the black top surface to teh fibrenyte and had a green area showing. The repair service quoted £33 to repair plus shipping both ways.

I actually elected to leave it and bought an identical bag in a 25% flash sale (Black Friday), so have one posher bag and one that I'm happy to take to more environmentally challenging conditions!
 
I currently use 3 bags.
Lowepro flip side 400 aw- had it for years. It’s big/ heavy but holds all my kit ( much more space than my actual camera gear now I’ve cut down kit)and unconditionally my laptop when needed.
Mainly only use it when going on holidays now or storing stuff in the house.

Thinktank retrospective 10- great if I want a nicer looking bag and one that can hold all my camera equipment I currently own. Easily holds one body and 3 lenses (20/50/28-75) still with plenty of pace for extras.
Down side is it is rather large and heavy for a messenger bag.

Vanguard VEO go 34m -My most recent and most used bag .
With the way I have it set it holds my camera and two lenses, but could probably be changed to hold three..
Way Smaller and lighter than the Thinktank. uglier in a brown/ tan colour and the strap pad isn’t great after long carrys( Justin foam)

Perversely I specifically choose bags which don’t hold a lot of gear. That makes me only take what I know I will need, and no more. The main reason for this is to keep weight down. I have never taken more than 2 lenses including the one on the body, and most times I come back with one lens unused.

LOWEPRO Adventura Go BP 150 seems to tick a lot of boxes, I like how the camera access is where your back is, nice bit of security there. Separate section at the top for carry other small items and a proper external bottle holder.

It looks a little rigid though, would maybe need to see it in person.

EDIT: Checked it out, not a real separation but uses a divider, although a fairly decent one. But the bag feels cheap, can't quite put my finger on why though. There's plenty of padding but the material itself just feels, well cheap? It's also quite small. Shoulder straps are not comfortable, but I suspected as much when looking at the photo of the guy. I don't think it's worth the price tag.

Ive now upgraded my A6700 to a Sony A7CR and the 24-70mm GM 2.8. Why? Well I always enjoy cropping and thought if I went for the A7 V or A7C ii. I may always regret not trying the mega mega pixel option! Yes, with me there is always an element of GAS! I will share some images once I get the chance to get outside.

I have posted my thoughts on the Panamoz thread. But just to say ordered Thursday evening and delivered yesterday. Pretty impressive.

I really like my A7CR. Sure it has it's issues, but then don't all bodies, but as a 61mp full frame ultra lightweight and tiny EDC, it's pretty much unbeatable in my mind. I tend to couple mine with the Sony 20-70 F4 and the 16-35 PZ F4, to keep the bulk and weight as light as possible, and these are a really good fit for the A7CR.

Not seen any rumours about it, but with Sony you never know. I wonder if they’ll ever put a joystick on their rangefinder style bodies and the newer vari angle screen.
 
Yes for me for a potential A7C III or A7CR II, I'd love to see the 4 way articulating screen (like the A7RV, A7V etc), an AF Joystick, an additional function button (probably on the front of the camera), and a change to the dual card format (I don't' mean two card slots), but the ability of the single card slot to accept either SD cards or CF Express Type A), but still a single slot would be fine. A nice to have would be a slightly bigger and more detailed viewfinder (but I'm not sure if that is even possible), but at the very least a viewfinder eyecup of some description ?
 
Thinking about buying a SonyA7V. Not shure yet. Now a Fuji user but missing speed and AF. Fuji event is coming so maybe ??

But if not Sony is a contender for me (even though I never liked my RX10 ). But after using the A7 from a friend I’m surprised how i liked this new camera. So different then my old RX10

Anyway .. reading about grey import. Wondering .. can you set the menu in the desired language ? I remember from that some cameras bought in Japan did not have all the options language wise.
