The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I actually don’t mind the grip on the X-T5 - especially the built in thumb ‘nub’.
I also didn’t mind the grip on the X100VI.

Of all the stuff I will buy for my new camera, a grip probably isn’t on the list :ROFLMAO:

I'm going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. I've been before and I know you can get quite close to the track... I'm thinking that my 100-400mm is going to be overkill.

Any suggestions for an alternative? I was thinking about the 55-200 (or the XC 50-230, although I don't know what the focusing speed is like on that). Just seen the 18-135 though: anyone got any experience of that? It would save me changing lenses, but would it be long enough?

EDIT: I've just searched for FoS shots on Glass, and it seems that a lot of them were shot at around 50mm... maybe I'll just need my 16-80?
I went to FoS last year, it was not as good for photography as in the past - the bales are thicker/higher and there are more people. Although the rally stage at the top of the hill was still good.
That’s a good point, thanks. Mrs T has an X-T3 which, while not huge at all, is larger than I’d like. I’m after something which can do “X100” duty (eg with the 23 2.8) but also be flexible enough to work at long range and wide as well. I think I need to visit a Fuji dealer and handle a bunch of the different lenses to see what works. In any event, the Q3 will remain my main camera and the X-E5 is for stuff the Q3 can’t do which is only about 20% of my photography.

I hadn’t realised the viewfinders are different. I need to check that out as well. Much appreciated.
Fuji do a good "try before you buy" rental scheme for bodies and lenses.
Now it’s my turn to play ‘which prime?’

I’ve got my X-T5 sorted and a 70-300mm is on the way. So I’m going to chop in my 50-230 to MPB for another lens.

But…which one? In an ideal world I’d get the 16-50mm, but I don’t have that cash.

So…any strong feelings on 23(35)mm vs 35(50)mm? I was leaning toward the 35mm seeing as my X100F has 23mm on it. But…the X-T5 has 40mp to play with and the digital crop…

I’d consider the 27mm but the equiv 40mm has felt restrictive before; a middle ground. But I’m not against it.

So: weather sealed, cheap, compact(ish). Thoughts?
I had the 23f2 when I got my X100v, but swapped it for the 35f1.4, as there was no point in having duplicate focal lengths - even though 35mm FF equivalent is my go to focal length.

Purchased this sling bag - slightly bigger than the Aer sling I was using for my X100VI, but not too big. Has a couple of additional pockets for keys/phone/wallet too. Fits the X-T5 and 16-50mm kit lens and the Viltrox 25mm F1.7.

Was going to go for the Bellroy Venture Sling 6L but this one was £90 cheaper!

Might cut the tripod straps off the bottom as, unlike other bags, you don't appear to be able to tuck them away out of sight.

EDIT: I did cut the straps off (y)

Lenses for American trip?
I'm off to visit my nephew in a couple of months (Lake Las Vegas). And have started to think about what glass to take...
I was thinking of 10-24, 16-55 and one of either the 35 f1.4 or 27 f1.2.
The only long lens is the 100-400, which I'm thinking might be too hefty for the trip.

Any thoughts?

75-300 is very light and pretty good to use, so I'd take that and maybe leave the 16-55 if you are taking a prime. You can always sell it on later but I ended up selling my 100-400 and getting a T/C to go with my 75-300
I'm envious of the trip btw!

Thanks, Steve.
I might have a look in the shops out there and see what used 70-300 prices are like ;) I also have the viltrox chip, as there might be a trip to Dallas (world cup). But we shall see.
The 16-55 is my battle axe lens, plus most of my filters are 77mm lol

Not getting on with the Viltrox?

First few shots with the X-T5 and the XF 70-300mm

Had an odd issue with the X-T5 - it was reporting 14% battery, but it wouldn't stay on as if the battery had actually completely depleted. Irritating. Still, its much, much better than the smaller battery cameras!

Quick question I have an xc 15-45 is pz and the front section is very loose.

Does not seem to effect the usage of the lens.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue ?

Lens Cap

After replacement Lens cap for Fuji lens 58mm. Anyone found a decent replacement that does not cost the earth?

Thanks
