Flu means I won't be seeing Spectre tonight. Money down the drain.
I dunno - a bottle of NightNurse and a double helping of Old Stoatwobbler and you'll be seeing all kinds of things.Flu means I won't be seeing Spectre tonight.
i found it disappointing anyway to be honest.Flu means I won't be seeing Spectre tonight. Money down the drain.
i went to see spectre at the new local i-max near chester ,totally stunning loved it and the other three crap daniel craig ones now make sense at last .
the i-max experience is worth every extra penny WOW
Oh yes it does. When they are in that village and the tanks are on their way. Hmmm watching that at reference volumes is flipping scary and creepy. The sounds is so well done throughout that movie. In YOUR opinion. In mine, the only one that needs even surround sound is Saving Private Ryan and even that doesn't need surround after the landing scenes.
Have to say that I loathe going to the cinema. Uncomfortable seats, volume usually to high or low, dirty, full of plebs, no way to pause if a comfort break is needed, expensive, too much background noise and many other reasons. Far prefer the comfort of my own chair and conveniences of my own home. So, I have to wait a year or 2 for a film - not a problem for me!
I must admit, I was like that for a while until I discovered the Rex in Berkhamsted. Absolutely brilliant, we go there often with some friend....http://therexberkhamsted.com/?page_id=140
Tickers booked for the new Star Wars film.
Also booked tickets for the new Star Wars But going to have a star wars weekend first to watch all the previous films
There is also one in St Albans. Should save 1 hour on your round trip.At least there would be 3 1/2 - 4 hours of comfort on the drive there and back!
Currently doing that. One more to go!
I am not a massive cinema fan, I love the theatre but not the cinema.. I do agree with your comment though some films (mainly sci fi for me) deserve the big screen experience.
Saw the NT Live Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch last week. Brilliant.
My Mrs fancies that, I think she did it for O level, don't know if we'll get though.Next Tuesday I'm going to the local theatre to watch a large screen
I love a night out at the flicks or the theatre with my lovely wife, we usually go for a meal first. On Tuesday we are going to see this:
http://ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk/productions/ntlout8-of-mice-and-men
On a large screen at our local theatre.
Last week we watched Brooklyn. Very moving.
So I went to see Spectre last night with my eldest daughter. I must admit I really liked it for a Bond movie. Hey, any movie that keeps me awake is a good movie
However, the theatre. The theatre (Odeon IMAX MK) was good enough, the people were friendly, no big queues, popcorn was good and reasonably priced, seats (premium rebooked) were very comfortable and clean. So all good. However the screen quality was appaling, it was ever so slightly out of focus, especially notable when there was text on the screen and certain big panning screens. And that was the second problem, the pans were tearing. I mean seriously? I wouldn't accept that on my home setup, let alone in an IMAX setup. It wasn't bad enough to get up and go, and the eyes unfortunately adjust and compensate, but wasn't impressed.
And then there was this older (than me) man with his three friends sitting next to me. For an hour he kept on blowing his coffee through the lid, then sat with his legs as far spread apart as possible (heck is much shorter than me), all I then good hear was his heavy breathing....Grrr...And then you had the smell coming through from the couple behind us with their hot nachos and sauces....I really wished they didn't sell that rubbish.
Great movie, terrible experience...
My Mrs fancies that, I think she did it for O level, don't know if we'll get though.
I'm looking forward to Star Wars on Saturday night but I am more looking forward to Hateful 8 in January. I am gutted to hear that Picturehouse at Fact, Liverpool are now not projecting the 70-mm version and it's London only. Looks like I will be getting the train in the morning, film at 14:45 then train home in the evening. It's a proper 70mm old school roadshow with an intermission. I am VERY excited about this.
Also went watching Peanuts the other week which was great fun. I LOVE the cinema.
I'm going on Christmas Eve, and it's gonna be hard avoiding spoilers. Tickets booked for IMAX 3D.
He's a good son!Going on the 21st, Gold Class, Reclining Leather Seats, 'Incredible View Digital', and seat service! part of my Xmas prezzie from my Son!
Just cannot wait!
Not bad, but he's not said what he wants yet! He's a good son!
No, I'm going not you. (But I wish)"Seat service"? Am I the only one with the thought of Princess Leia in her slave girl outfit responding to my every whim?
I refuse to answer that on the grounds I may incriminate myselfButter kissed WHAT?
Wow didn't know about that thanks for postingReally looking forward to this:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS -- and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
